The E89 out and about - reaction

May not have been my first choice but must agree the Zed does look good in Yellow. Makes a definate statement and in the sun with the roof down, Wow.

PS Has anyone seen one in orange.The only one I have seen is in a mag with a black roof and wondered if it looks as good in real life. Do hope so.
 
I think you should go some were in between the two colours with a white one with black wheels of course, I went to a M meet the other day with some friends and my car got a lot of nice comments from the M boys and girls.

I've seen one, liked the orange but didn't like the black roof. I'd think all orange would look great.
 
Orange is a great colour, years ago I had a 3 series in bright solid orange & loved it. Yellow is also a great colour but so rare these days, unless it's specially ordered all the dealers go for the safe bet of dull colours.

Why though? Thats like saying a 3 series is a poor mans 5 series etc etc...and the analogy could be used with any product line. Its just an opinion, but based on what?

It is your opinion though, and thats fair enough, but I don't understand the mentality behind it. I have heard it said before, but still don't get it. Sure, for some people the whole point of a Porsche might be the performance, and I guess you're referring to the Boxster having less performance, but people buy cars for all sorts of reasons.

I am speaking as the owner of a 20i E89....so am not one to comment on performance....cos I guess the 20i E89 is a poor mans Z4 (in comparison to the 35is etc)?

Thats so true, as an ex 2.5i owner, the 28i I have now has a much better performance, less to insure (just) cheaper to tax and averaging 35mpg. Crazy!

Out and about today driving through Morpeth in Northumberland in the sun with the top down when I heard two females saying "thats nice", unfortunately they were talking about the car not the driver but from the reflection in the shop window behind them I had to agree the Zed did look nice. Small compensation but pleasing nevertheless.

To be honest I have never driven a boxster nor ridden in one. My opinion is based on what they look like, the price and the people I know who buy them. To me buying a boxster says I've done quite well but not well enough to buy a real Porsche. Buying a Z4 says I want a fun car that looks great and isn't bad value for money. And yes I have an entry level (or what was entry level before the 1.8) z4 but a z4 is a z4 and very few people look at the car and think that's a nice z4 shame about the engine.

I am also biased because my old boss owned a cayman which again is probably a great car but we ribbed him day on day that it wasn't a 911. Very childish but he deserved it !
 
My opinion is also completely subjective and not based on anything concrete such as how the car actually drives. So it is worth toffee I should just shut up and go to bed.

One of my best friends from Uni dated a guy with a Z4 who was a tw@t - her reaction when I told her I had bought one was negative to say the least :lol:
 
Haha fair enough. I like the Boxster because of its looks!

Although it might be cos I'm a twat as well, so it's the car of my destiny!!!!
 
My neighbor, who daily drives a ZR1 Corvette, gave me a thumbs up one time as I was leaving. Sometimes I get people trying to race, but that's just because this is 'murrica and every other car is trying to race someone. I did have a guy come up and ask me how I can afford my car so young. I just told him I have a good investor LOL
 
Driving slowly through Bowness back streets with the top down an American guy said to his wife " Wow look at that, I think its a Ford"!!
