Firstly thanks for reading! If anyone has a little how toon E85 EPS removal please leave below!
Hi all, recently purchased a bit of a fixer upper E85 Z4 with a good few miles on it. When I bought it there were some small issues (MAF issues under load, coolant leaks) that I have since resolved with a bit of elbow grease.
Unfortunately, here in Ireland we have a national car roadworthiness test that can cause some problems. When I brought my z4 in, the only issue with the steering was a little stickiness (well documented, which has since been improved with the worm gear cover rotation). Unfortunately when I got my car back, I was informed that the EPS light was on and the power steering was dead.
Now initially I did believe the problem was that the voltage just dropped in the battery during the test with the ignition on and no engine running as they checked lights, brakes etc, causing the power steering to freak out and throw a light that just needed to be cleared. Unfortunately after having a shop clear the light, the power steering returned for a brief few hours and then died again, with the module now failing to communicate with diagnostic tools. (this was all while at the shop, I never saw it back in action)
Has anyone experienced anything like this? Any advice beyond removing the EPS and sending it for a refurbishment? Thanks so much!
