The dreaded emissions lights!

First problem in well over a year...Car started idling rough and was jerky to drive, then....the dreaded light.

Booked into BMW next monday, buggers are charging me £15 for a loan car! Grrr...

I'm almost happy it's going in...least i'm getting something out of my £900 a year warranty!

They are going to take a look at a slightly jerky gear change while it's in. nae biggy!
 
Let us know how it goes mate, I expect the second point will be an "they all do that sir" type line.
 
lol mine just went as well, i pulled the codes and found the POST cat sensor on bank 2 had heater malfunction, these are at most an hours work so ill be doing these @ the next available chance, while im their ill do the other post cat sensor :-) i cleared the code and it hasnt shown back up as yet but im certain my lamda is going to now start playing up, FYI, pre cat 02's are the ones that cause rough running, if post Cat ones fail you get the light and no change in the drive/performance....

Sadly i think this is going to be part of s54 ownership BUT this is my first issue so im pretty pleased with her really :-) Parts are around 75 quid, so is no biggy @ all!!

when swapping mine out im going to do a comprehensive DIY as i dont want he dealers making money out of us all for s**t parts/designs.....
 
whats the emissions light?? do you mean the Check engine light? the little yellow block?? or is their an actual emissions one???

It's the check engine light which is referred to as the emissions light in the hand book.

That will most probably be for insurance, your own should cover it for free if you call them they will fax the cover note to the dealers. That's what I ually do.
 
yeh, it's the yellow block...I belive most manuals call it "Monitoring Exhaust Gas pressures" ?!

It's running ok now actually...Weird, but booked in for Monday.
