The dreaded 5c8d Trifecta - Newbie Z4 owner

I'm relatively new to the Z4 scene and having uprated the discs and pads, engine gaskets (valve cover, oil filter, cooler Vanos motor etc) have a engine that is running and well and braking great. Just when I thought I was winning, I had the dreaded Trifecta of DSC, brake and tyre lights come on. Like a fool, thinking it was just a glitch after reinflating a slow punture, I did an OBD scan and 5 codes came up, and cleared them all without recording any of them. All was well for 5 minutes and then the trifecta came on and I can't seem to clear it.

The scanner i'm using is not overly advanced (Autolink AL609p) and is just showing the 5C8D Code - Sensor: No data connection fault - nothing else. I've checked the DSC fuses, the battery (fully charged) but I can not clear it down.

The car is my daily driver (i'm currently between jobs) so don't want to do anything radical - The internet in general is pointing to a faulty Yaw sensor but I don't want to bash it with my wallet at it until i'm back at work - Do any of you good folk have suggestions? I was going to buy a 2nd hand yaw sensor and see if it resolves the problem if they are sensible money.

Is this the most sensible way forwards?
What should I expect to pay for a yaw senson (UK) - I believe Mini parts are also compatable
Where is it - I've seen a Youtube video showing it in the passenger side footwell - but for a LHD car - Would that mean it's drivers side on a RHD?
Is it worth scanning with a better scanner?

A lot of questions I know but your collective knowledge would be massively appreciated - Thanks in advance

(I'll get to the transmission clunk on another day ;-))

Those codes suggest the yaw sensor.

A second one can be had for 150-200 however before installing it sort the water ingress issue that will have drowned your current one

Location is drivers side under the carpet I’ll bet your door membrane has failed

Open the door and run water on the outside of the glass- see if any appears from behind the door card. Get that fixed, then dry the carpet out before investing in a new yaw sensor!

Just to update, someone has butchered the door membrane and the carpet is very wet . I’ve tidied it up with a professional waterproofing tape so have stemmed the ingress. I’ll take the seat out tomorrow and see what’s been fried. Hopefully it’ll be just the yaw sensor . I think I’ll check the other side and see if it’s any better .IMG_0651.jpeg

That looks like a new membrane may be in order

BMW direct are about 40 quid; use Tec7 sealant to get it attached and watertight

That waterproofing tape won't hold up too long. The water that rushes down the door will start eating away at it on the bottom where that upside down "triangle" is near the speaker wires. I suggest a new membrane as you'll have the same issue again and again eventually

Thanks motionblurrr
It’s not a long term solution, but should hold until I can sort out the sensor. I used to work in the waterproofing industry and it’s designed to join tanking membrane's so is water tolerant.
