The door airbags

Im looking at some new door cards from a salvage car. Now, i can see the airbags have all gone of in the car but just wondered what happened to the door cards when this happens. Do they just put back together again or what? I cant see where the bag would come out?
 
i saw some black ones on ebay the other day but i think they are gone now.

I thought the panel would seperate im just wondering if they will go back on? Just sort of click back into place....anyone any idea?
 
When activated it will rip the leather stitching wide open on the door card. You can't simply buy new inserts, it's the whole panel/ card.

You can separate the leather panel out, but it requires several feet of heat welded plastic to be split. They could then in theory be recovered and bonded back together.

IMHO - not an economic proposition.

EDIT - the airbag deploys along the stitching line, roughly between the door pull and the airbag badge (that actually just hides a door fixing)
