The difference between E46 and Z4 hubs?

Hi guys, im looking at buying a set of E46 front M3 brake calipers. The seller had them fitted to his standard 330 E46. Included in the sale is the hubs, calipers cariers, disks and wishbones. It looks like a lot of the parts are interchangeable wiht E46's, im wondering if i can buy his complete setup for my prefacelift Z4. Has it been done? Im thinking it could possibly fit with some Z4M bottom arms?

I was assured (by the vendor) that an Alcon BBK for the E46 M3 would fit my ///M as the Z4M uses CSL discs and callipers. However, the offset of the new discs was incorrect for the Zed so there was insufficient clearance around the track rod ends. I'm not sure if what you are planning would encounter similar problems. I got a full refund as the vendor had made the wrong call, but you wouldn't have that option if the setup is second hand.

Thank you for this, its nice to hear from someone that tried first hand. Ill avoid them and go for the 330 simpler brake upgrade instead, thanks :)

Lots of people have done the 330 brake upgrade but I've not heard of anyone trying an M3 upgrade so I suspect it won't work. Have a look at realoem though and compare the part numbers for the non-M Z4, the Z4M, the non-M E46, and the E46 M3.

Hi James,

I have a 3.0 pre face lift and looked at upgrading my callipers. I use a local indie who is excellent. He had a pair of M3 discs callipers and hubs. The bad news is they would not fit. A minor issue was one car has grey plugs for breaking wear indicator and the other blue one. Also the geometry was not quite right.

He spent some time looking at this and he knows his stuff!

This only relates to M3 callipers and discs.

He said the easiest route would be a BBK.

Regards

Chris
