so, while trawling the american forums i came across a gorgeous solid billet dip stick for our car, now i REALLY struggle to see the level on our stock red dipstick thats on my car at least has now turned a brownish red colour on the oil level toggle, add golden brown oil and my piss poor eyesight struggles...... also my stock dipstick is SO stiff it feels like its going to break every time i remove it, ive actually broken one off in the dipstick tube and had to dismantle all sorts to get it out again..... so the solution this gorgeous billet dipstick, this was alittle birthday present to myself and im Really pleased with it, it glides in and out of the tube like a hot knife through butter, the gauge level is soo much easier to read and i guess on top of everything it looks great............. it really is a beautiful piece to behold and feels really "substantial"..... will it burn my hand when it take the level hot??? probably, lol.

low and behold i take out my NEW o.e dipstick and guess what? stress cracks already on the bottom level reading and the top handle where it seats to the dipstick tube...... What sucks is the import charges.....

sorry about the iphone pics...... they suck. Lots more ordered for this car, the modding starts again REALLY soon, i will update shortly...... ;-)

:-) thanks , really pleased with it actually...... it literally glides in and out the tube as the long piece is now braided metal so its bends really easily!! awesome piece!!
 
the company is called Eurowise in north carolina, they REALLY werent happy about shipping to uk due to past issues, after convincing them and having a freaking NIGHTMARE getting it here........ i can honestly say if i were to do it again i really wouldnt bother, its taken 3 weeks to get here, UPS and FEDex wanted insane money to get it here, so we went with usps that literally made my life a misery, lol!!!! Now ive got it i had to say im really impressed :-) ive checked the oil about 20 times, its a joy to use?

its ALOT bigger than it looks on the pics, its a proper piece of solid billet, looks literally awesome next to the blower.......thanks for the comments, i was expecting everyone to ask have if id gone mad!!!
 
Does this not get stuck so easily then? It's something that's really annoyed me on my past cars, I'm not the strongest of people so often struggle to get the dipstick out.

A group buy could be good, but if shipping is a problem, maybe wait for some one to go over and bring some back with them (may be able to do this myself around Xmas)

Another option may be to get some made up in the uk, phoenixmotorsport should be able to do it. The guy is into his 8 series and a fountain of knowledge and useful parts over on 8er.org

herm... not at all, the wire is a braided line so it literally has none of the resistance, my particular stocker needed an insane amount of force to get the o.e item out of the tube, also it so much easier to read the level, i can now see my oil is still a light golden brown colour, its actually a really neat mod, bear in mind the dimensions must be perfect when it comes to these things, all the hard work is done with this thing and its been on sale in the us for a while so issues would have arrised by, now, also their was a huge group buy over on the us forums and everyone was please.......

Their really isn't cheap mods out their for the z4m, so i think this is a nice cost effective (ish) item that actually makes general ownership better......
Then again I wondering how many time i burn the f**k out of my hand............... lol......
