The Coupe has gone to the Garage....

I'm like a kid before Christmas right now!

So I dropped my coupe off at TWG Automotive this evening, with a few choice parts....

When I collect it on Wednesday evening, it will have Bilstein B12s, new top mounts, powerflex RTAB bushes, front and rear arb bushes, polybush lollipop bushes and full alignment!

They're also going to investigate a slight miss/lumpy idle which it has always had but which seems to be slightly more pronounced of late.

The only remaining thing will be to fit the backbox chop, and it'll be ready for a full summer of hooning ;)

Cannot bloody wait for Wednesday evening!!

Also if anyone wants any feedback on the set-up, I'd be happy to pop some more info up after I've got used to the feel and been able to exploit it a little... :D

Sounds like it'll be a nice drive home after that little lot!

Backbox removal can lose power. Is this what you're having done?

Why the sad face Taz? :P hoping it will be fun, but I'm sure it'll take a bit of time to adjust to it after my saggy 63k oem stuff!

Nah Ben, I'm sure the backbox chop won't lose any power. It will mildly reduce low-end torque due to the reduced backpressure, but the easier breathing without the rear box should actually improve peak horsepower in theory. The reason most owners will perceive it to be slower is because it will 'kick' less when you get on the power from lower down the revs, and the noise I'm sure makes it sound faster than it is!

Either way I was only really doing it for some cheap pops and crackles for summer. The plan is to get a proper exhaust as a more permanent feature eventually! Although I'm still tempted to tinker with removing the mid box instead.... Meh I'm not sure when it'll happen but we'll see!

Did he have a print out 'before' and 'after'? I'd put money on it being unrelated to the backbox chop, and either to there being an underlying issue. The other thing is it's highly dependent on how the dyno is set up too, and how drive train losses are calculated. How far down on power was he and what was the torque curve by comparison to the OEM curve?

Please don't misunderstand me I'm not trying to sound belligerent; I do want to understand what the circumstances are around the power figure obtained :)

Safe hands at TWG, Will knows his stuff! Let us know what he says about the lumpy idle/mis-fire, would be interested to know.

Yes Andy, TWG are brilliant in my experience, and Will is a really nice chap too! I always enjoy catching up with him about his racing - he's not having such a good season this season though sadly!

I'll have a big hopefully in a few hours Taz :D not long now!!

Cornish Rob if you ever need to sell your coupe (can't imagine you'd ever want to!) ... Please give me a pm before putting it up to the general punters ;)

Adam the b12 kit is fan-bloody-tastic! It's noticeably firmer on rubbish roads but the damping control is significantly better and the car has just become so much more enjoyable as a result. I keep finding excuses to go our for a drive at the moment...!
