With the weather looking like it'll be nice this weekend, the Wife has decided that we're taking the Z on a trip to The Cotswolds on Sunday. :driving:
Anybody have recommendations on routes, must see locations, places to eat, etc?
(Shopping does not count as a must see location, I avoid where possible!)

Bibury and Burford are nice, if you can deal with all the tourists. Deddington has a few nice places to eat too and is a little quieter than the other places.

Beautiful part of the world i am just down the road i know it quite well.

Have you got somewhere to stay? If not i recommend this place http://www.cotswoldsploughhotel.com/lazy-sunday-essential-friday Good deals on Fridays and Sundays. The staff are great the food is good too.

As for places to see as above Bibury Burford Bourton on the Water Stow on the Wold Chipping Norton Woodstock ( Blenheim Palace ) And then my home town Witney is not bad. In Witney the hollybush is great as is the Fleace.
Burford the Bay tree is great. The Swan at Bibury is nice to. To be honest i wouldn't eat in Bourton its too busy. But you will find somewhere nice anywhere in the Cotswolds we are very lucky when it comes to eating :)

If you like PM me where your staying and i should be able to come up with a decent route for driving for you

MM pointed out some excellent places but forgot to mention Broadway (beautiful village well worth a look) and Broadway tower(stunning views over the valley).

If you do go to Broadway, a blast up Fish Hill is good fun. The Falkland Arms at Great Tew is a lovely pub in a very pretty village.

Lots of excellent places mentioned, I have taken notes as I will be travelling down there on Friday for a few days.

Drove through the Cotswolds a couple of weekends ago, (before the sun came out) :(

Burton on the water was a little gem.

If your comming across, from the M5, then I can also recommend Fromebridge Mill, GL2 7PD, as a great place for, a very well priced, bite to eat.

we spent some time in that neck of the woods - really liked Bilbury and Burford in the evening once the tourist coaches had left...

if you head in via Oxford I'd recommend the http://www.thetroutoxford.co.uk at Wolvercote - Beer garden and bridge is featured in quite a few Morse and Lewis Episodes.
