The cheapest LED upgrade? I'm happy with it!

Bit of the thread revival but how are people finding these LED interior lights? Are they holding up ok?

I'm thinking of getting some. The original eBay advert has gone but I've found another.

More than half of mine have failed :(

Looking for alternatives..

prefer the original halogen bulb's warm light colour. Tho ive often thought the interior lights were a bit dim if trying to read anything in the dark.
i suppose i ought really to be reading 'fifty shades of shite' in the proper location tho- while on the lavvy..

I only buy Osram or Philips for LEDs in a bulb compatible package. The W5W Philips side lights have never missed a beat for 3 years and are run almost all the time along with headlights.
£15 a pair but buy once, cry once!

Thats weird because all of mine are still working perfectly....

Guessing your package may have taken a knock in the post for that many to mess up???

Have a look at Osram, they have a full range that will.cover the dome and map lights with varying colour temps. W5W they do won't work as well for footwells.

Got a link? I've had a look but my Google skills lack. Either that or do you know the bulb types i need (map, footwells, boot) and I'll have another look.

Thanks for the help so far!

They should all be W5W bulbs and the Osram or Philips replacements are fine for the dome and maps. The issue is with the footwells, cubby and boot. These need light to come out at 90 degrees from the longitudinal axis of the bulb, so the output will be less.
They should be available from Amazon, eBay, auto bulb retailers, searching for Osram W5W LED should bring some up. Or Philips.

Must agree. Every time I have tried LED lighting, I have just wasted my money and had to throw the bulbs out --- the LED light (even when advertised as warm white) is a horrible white odour that is far too bright, far too white, and far too clinical / digital. There was even an article on the BBC about people in NY complaining that the council had changed the street lighting outside their house to LED, and now this ugly cheapo white light comes streaming into their house.

Part of the beauty / elegance of the Z4 lighting (both interior and exterior) is its cool retro feel ... nightclub dim and mysterious ... the
'ultraviolet' red light above the gear shift, and how about those amazing retro red coils in the rear lights. It's all so delectably retro -- just doesn't go with LED lights.

I prefer the original interior lighting. Nice n warm tone. Led would be like sitting in Tescos.

This is exactly what I thought last time I was in mine at night. The only one I'd be interested in I think would be the license plate ones

Got em all working now, apparently they are poled!?
They also fit the number plate bulbs so getting some more, result!
Yes they are "poled" diodes that work on a dc system.
