The challenge of tomorrow

Mrs PVR's new toy has arrived in Plymouth now, which is her Christmas present. So I have booked the flight and will drive it back.

Few challenges ...

- Will the airport be open for my flight in the morning.
- What sort of trip will it be on the way back ... At least it is front wheel drive.

Don't think I will have the roof open much tomorrow either :)

Just spoke to a colleague who left work at Burgess Hill at 15:45 and at 18:20 had only driven 10 miles or so to Uckfield not even halfway to his home in Eastbourne. He is going to text me when he gets in but I'm not expected it until gone 20:00.

Good luck is all I say, and rather you than me.

I will take the camera if I get that far, so I can take some clean pictures whilst it is still in the showroom.

Eastbourne was worst hit I saw, the A22 is still bad. Just drove the A264 and had to overtake stranded cars on the main road as it is pure ice, they could not get up the slightest incline. Thank goodness for winter tyres ...

I hope as much effort is going into getting the 10-22mm lens!

(I must have missed the original thread...........what is in Plymouth? what shiny pretty thing awaits?)

Well, got to the airport as the website said all was fine and the flight was going.

Wrong ... got to the check in desk, and they just told me that the plane was frozen to the ground and therefore cancelled. Isn't it great that even when you check in advance, they don't give you the correct answer.

petach - lens on order but delivery is hopeless at the moment, so will be after Christmas I think.

And what it is - you will have to wait. Clue is that there are only a few dealers in the UK, hence having to fly to get it. Also, demand is high so 0 discount on the car as well.

Took my colleague 5 hours and 10 minutes do the journey home last night, normally takes him an hours.

It's a lovely car PVR has bought, but I wont ruin the surprise for the other, looking forward to some pics

What car you getting?

Other option is trains... loads of flights cancelled in Gatwich and Heathrow.. but my bro managed to get a train from Plymouth to London last night with no issues.

Agree - should be amazing. Would love one for a bit of fun. Not sure if Mrs PVR is even aware what she's getting...

She has no clue what so ever. Even though she dropped me off at the airport this morning, the train station is there as well so I could have gone anywhere to collect her present. I just told her I have to sign for it in person, so she does not know what it is.

Excellent
On the other hand I just came back from business in Paris and was asked if I'd got Mrs CJ anything, which was a 'no'. Why would I with work, drinking and the need to go up the Eiffel Tower

I was greeted with 'no matter' and presented with a £1,000 necklace to give her at Christmas. Seems she decided to get the right gift and not leave it to chance. There was me thinking the new boiler I've just had fitted would be her gift.
