Wow! an overwhelming result so far to keep Scotland within the UK.
I'll nail my coulours to the mast and tell you I will be voting to remain within the Union. I want what is best for Scotland, this is where I live but I detect some naivety among those who suppport independence as in the main, they seem to be voting with just the heart - it's too important for that. How is the elecotate supposed to make an informed decision on such an important matter when we don't have all the information?
Huge gaps seem to be appearing whereby the Scottish Nationalist Party (Not to be confused with ANY connection whatsoever to The British Nationalist Party.) seem to be papering over in a 'It'll be alright on the night' fashion.
Sure, we may get free prescriptions etc. here, but at a price. If you get cancer in Scotland, you are going to die because we don't have the money to even detect it. Think I'm scaremongering? NO Scottish Health Authority has achieved the government set 12 week target to get patients seen from GP to specialist. You see adverts telling us that the best chance to surviving cancer is to detect it early. WE KNOW!
More of the electorate need prescriptions than die of cancer so as long as it's a vote winner for the SNP, thats ok. No way do I want such a blatantly cynical party to run my manor.
Sure, if we pulled out of UK we will have more money to start off with as we won't have a defence force to payroll. You can keep your 'English' independent nuclear deterrent (Trident) and move it from its present Scottish location to your own land. However if we in Scotland ever get attacked, please will you come and save us? Not that that will ever happen of course because we are a peaceful nation. (History will tell you over and over again that it's the weak who end up being annihilated - don't think for a moment that our defences in the UK are not being probed and assessed on a regular basis by others).
We will spend our 'Peace Dividend' on socialist causes to make Scotland a better place to live. So basically we'd like to be covered under your defence 'Insurance Policy' please.....but not pay for it, is that ok?
As for the EU, Salmond and Sturgeon (do I detect something fishy going on?) keep telling us 'It'll be alright....not to worry.' When the EU tells us effectively, 'Out of the UK= out of the EU!' I know where I'd lay money.
As has been said, United we stand - divided we fall. The danger is of course that we, the current majority who want to stay in the UK will be apathetic when it comes to voting and find that we have sleepwalked our way out of the UK.
Use your vote, please.
