The BMW 'Sneeze'

Not sure why anyone would consider an A3. Ageing design, lifeless handling and underneath it's just a VW Golf with delusions of grandeur.

Agree on the 1-Series though. How did they sign that off?

It kind of grows on you; like cancer and when you get rid of it there is a sense of great relief and a hope you'll never get it back. Hopefully i'm in remission and won't see it again, just waiting for the all clear.
There was a deep chuckle at the dealership when i walked in and said ' here are the keys for the sneeze'

brilliant name for it....

saw one of these in real life today..... no quantity of Photos of this prepare you for the awfulness of this in the flesh .... it has managed the impossible a modern hatch with a nose more ugly than the new focus front end. the rear is passable but only because it is a polo rip off at the rear.

Golf or Guiletta for me please.

oddly this is not the only place where the 1 series is causing some merriment today over on the evoque forum they are having some fun since a thread on one of the 1 series forums reckons a 1 series on winter tyres will out point an evoque in the snow....

A 1 series forum :o
Do 2 people qualify as a Forum ?!!

A one series in the snow would look like a rabid pig trying to snort its way through a bag of plain flour

And then it would........

See the name does fit :)

Probably more like a therapy session over there, they need a lot of group hugs after buying a monster ... :D

I quite liked the previous model, and it wasn't that bad seeing it started life as the Rover 25 replacement :o

The A3 Sportback still looks good but the 3 door was launched 7 or so years ago and things have moved on since then. No my choice would be between the Golf or the A1, I think the Giulietta looks very good too so possibly that as well, but I think the A1 steals it for me

Been at Astle BMW in Scunthorpe today having some warranty work done on the car and I had a snoop around the show room and a coffee.. I have to say the new 1 series is awful..

Having said that I didnt like the old model when it was released but ended up buying a 120d M sport a few years later..

I did have a sit in the new M5 aswell and the 640d.. Cant really understand the soft close door gimick on those though. All it seems to do is suck the door in on the seal when you have closed it and then push it back out again..

The M5 is nice but £75k... Sod that. If I had that sort of money to spend I dont think I would be in the BMW garage personally.

I think the only car that half tempted me was the E89 Sdrive23i M sport in white.. They are starting to grow on me..

All in all I was quite happy driving off in my coupe at the end.. Dont think I have ever really felt that way with any of my previous cars after having a play in the show room.

A friend is changing his 3 year old 520 company car so I was wandering around the Audi then BMW Edinburgh dealers yesterday. There's a couple of M5's there, a blue demo one outside which I quite like the colour, and a black one inside. I have to admit I like it - looks an aggressive bit of kit! Would have to agree on the £75k sentiments though.
Like you JDM, not keen on the new 1. I looked at one and my first reaction was 'what have they done to it'. Some cracking deals on 3's there though ahead of the new one coming soon. I hadn't realised how "cheap" some of the M3's were now.

Similarly nothing in the showroom or on the forecourt I'd have rather driven off in TBH.

In the Audi garage I sat in an R8 for the first time, it seemed very plasticky and IMHO a bit crap for £80k or £90k or whatever they are now.

Yeah, I would also agree. A new 1 series was heading towards me the other day, and I found myself screwing my face up at it :P ... the owners must have wondered what I was up to!

There are no other BMW's that take my fancy at the moment, and I also just wouldn't give £75k to a BMW dealer.

The Audi R8 Spyder sitting in Glasgow Audi a few weeks ago had a sign on it asking people not to even open the doors on it! I would have one in a heartbeat though! :D

Don't you know, its either Greenpeace or the Greens in Government have now infiltrated BMW to make them ugly to stop people buying cars...

I like it, pretty nice car really...apart from that front :(

Maybe the M sport bumper will sort it a bit, and some all-black grilles.
