The Big Tyres Thread

Got some new alloys on the way and currently deciding which tyres to go for. Thought it might be good to have a thread where everyone lists what rubber they're currently wearing, and what they think of them - help others decide what to get etc.

Falken FK453
Front 225-35 R19 Rear 255-30 R29
I think £650-£700 fitted and alignment checked.
Good rubber i have been really quite impressed only had them for about 1500 miles.

Make And Model: Conti Sport 5
Size: 225/255 18s
Rough Price: £650 inc "enviromental costs" and nitrogen
Thoughts: They are black, round and seem OK - only had them for 500 odd miles so far.

standard runflats -- rears are getting thin, im on the lookout too. I would go against the grain and consider runflats again, i hear that other makes are better then bridgestone but i cant fault their wear -- 18k miles or their runflatness - 3 punctures (all repaired).

Front 235/35 R19 Michelin Pilot Super Sport (PSS)
Rear 265/35 R19 Michelin Pilot Sport 2 (PS2)
Price - Fronts about £190, Rears about £250 (both per tyre)

Lovely tyres, nice and grippy and not too noisy. Will replace rears with PSS
If I wasn't fitting Michelins I'd go for the Goodyear F1 Asymmetric, I've had them before and they're great tyres

Vredstein Ultrac Sessantas
235/35 X 19 front
265/30 X 19 rears
All in £740 inc all charges and a 4 wheels alignment
Amazing tyres. Stick like glue. Superb in the wet. Tramlining gone. Really impressed.

eagle F1 A2
225 17
£410 the set
Quiet.
I can't go round corners fast enough to make them slide
I would probably get extra load next time to sharpen the turn in.

Make And Model - Michelin Pilot Sport 2
Size - standard 18" staggered, so 225/40 and 255/35
Rough Price - £560 for the set, Costco 20% off deal (though you need the offer to be on and to buy a full set)
Thoughts - much better than the RFTs that they replaced, much less tram-lining, pretty quiet and grippy.

Exactly the same... very pleased with them

Should've said, that price is fitted and balanced IIRC

Ditched run flats put on Vredstein Ultrac Vorti's XL

18" staggered 225x40 fronts 255x35 rears

All up fitted / balanced / new valves £534.00

Great tyres. Smooth ride, quiet, stick like glue , and soak up power. Would choose again.

225 40 18s front
255 35 18s rear

Avon ZZ5s - £600 for the set.

Used to have Pilot Sport 2s (now called super sport) run flats.

The PS2s had a little more grip in the wet.

In dry weather the Avon's are just as good as the PS2s were.

The PS2s lasted longer, but at £1100 for 4 tyres I would hope so!

Hankook ventus V12 evo all round great in the wet and stick like s##t to a blanket :D but they can pull being directional tires

Continental Extreme Contact DW (DW for Dry & Wet) I'm on my second set of these and while fairly expensive (About $1,000 For A Set) these are great tire with excellent dry or wet traction.

Think I'm gonna go for Vred Ultras Sessantas.

Quoted £630 from a local tyre place, but found these here so will probably just buy these and get them to fit them, save over £150.
Are these the correct ones? Wouldn't want to order the wrong thing trying to do bits myself.

The wheels are 18x8" front 18x8.5" rear which I think should be 225/40/18 & 255/35/18 ideally.

Comes to a much nicer £427.96 including delivery.

yes those are the correct ones, although you have daisies on, don't you?

or have you bought some new wheels?

Bought new wheels (see the "today I" thread).

Keeping the 103s with the winter rubber as a winter set.

Cheers
