The best £60 I ever spent was...

...retrofit cruise control! Sorry for anyone expected tales from a trip to Amsterdam. I did a 550 miles round trip to Dorset yesterday and after 10 hours of driving arrived home with an impeccably fresh and well rested right ankle. The car also averaged just over 36mpg which is fantastic for a 3litre. :)

you can get porn from the tinternet and beer from Tesco why go all that way for it...........

Good excuse for a drive though........... :driving:

How well did it drive across the channel.............

Thats good news. Could you please let me know where I can get the parts to sort out cruise control? I miss having this as my merc had it and i noticed, as you remarked, the noticeable savings in fuel and of course it's a lazy way to drive which is always nice. Thanks Bradders75.

Yep, as long as you're willing to fit it yourself which is a doddle.
What the hell is a doddle? Is it like a diddle? :poke:

As far as I'm aware Zeds came standard with cruise control here in Oz and mine is on almost permanently. I simply use it to refrain from speeding!

Like Taz said, if you do a quick search, you'll find plenty of information on what to buy and how to fit it. Sorry to not be more helpful but my laptop is broken and it's too awkward on my phone to C&P you the information or I would do. As your car is an early one like mine, you should just only need the stalk which is about £60. I bought mine from Joe @ Sopers, Lincoln. Again, a quick search will get you Joe's details and even the part number you need. The only tricky bit of fitting is making a neat job of cutting out a slot in the steering wheel cowling for the stalk to fit through. Thankfully the slot cut out is already marked out so you'd have to be pretty cack handed to mess it up! Hope that helps a bit.

I retrofitted cruise control over xmas, yes it cost me less than £60 (just make sure your car is compatible).

I dont think it improves MPG though. I think that if i concentrate then i can get better economy by operating the accelerator myself. Still, going to the nurburgring again next month so i'm sure it will make the journey easier.
