The August 2012 Photo Competition - COMMENTS

Hi Carol, Jackers has made a composite, you could do the same if you wanted to do some photoshoppery. As we've had two thirds of no decent weather these last few weeks, the best I could hope for would be some morning or evening clouds :(

I took three shots of the Zed - all at different exposures - then used a program called photomatix to combine them into one shot. By using three I was able to capture the detail in both the shadow and sky. Because I was wanting to create an image rather than take a photo I thought I'd add the lightning as well. More art than photo!

That's the same program I use. Real easy and fun to use. I've also tried taking a meter reading from the camera. Then switched to manual set the aperture and varied the shutter speed for total of 16 shots. To be honest. It didn't look much different than the three shot bracket.

If you're into HDR photography, this is a great site for info: http://www.stuckincustoms.com/hdr-tutorial

I've done full HDR photo's but now I mainly use the technique using layers and just use the HDR layer to pull through some detail on the normal image. Used this process in places like the wheels and other parts of the car and the wall in the photo I have posted in this months comp.

If it wasn't for the guy sitting in the passenger seat, I would've voted for Breaker's pic. Usually not a fan of the E89, but it looked nice in that pic.
