Hi All

Ive decided to rent a polisher tomorrow and im assuming it wont come with any much so what are the absolute bare basic minimums i need to buy? (sensible priced)

Can i use autoglym SRP on a pad as the first product?

Is it a DA or rotary and what level of finish/paint correction are you looking to achieve?

As a minimum, I would get a fine and medium pad and a fine and medium compound polish, this will give you four combinations of cutting. Remember always start with a fine pad/polish unless you are completely sure of the paint thickness.

Although this is only covering Scholl Concepts products, I found this a useful read on selecting polish and pad combinations, as well as polishing techniques.

AG SRP is fine for use, but wont correct the paint. At best it'll fill and mask the swirls, but that wont last too long. You'll get a good finish on it, even with AG SRP

Meguiars do a basic cutting compound ideal with DA's. Look on YouTube, and type in meguiars dual action polishing. Lots of tutorials on there
