That's not really an M, is it mate?

Following the discussion about when it's OK to stick an M badge onto a non-M car, i thought it might be quite amusing for everyone to take snaps of the best (or is it worst?) examples of Ebay badge buying.

I'll go first with this M powered, Ac Schnitzer 3 series. Made worst because it's actually decent car that doesn't need the wannabe badges.

I saw an "M Power" badge on a VW Bora the other day but didn't manage to snap a photo... Should've been "NM (needs more) Power" :D

i had a guy ask me at a red light if my car was an M or if I bought the badges on eBay! :x These people are making us look bad!

Guy w/an E46 325i at a bimmer meet back in '06: Is that a real ///M or did you slap on the badges yourself?
Me: I popped the hood to show him the engine
Guy: Did you get the engine cover from ebay, or?
Me:....... :headbang:

He actually asked the questions genuinely and admitted he was a bimmer noob though.

There was I guy I was talking to at the gym a few weeks ago about cars. He had just bought a new Audi TT and he said he looked at the Z4 and Z4M but he wanted a bit more room inside. He made a statement that "The Z4M wasn't a real M car though was it? Wasn't it just a Z4 with M performance parts like wheels, seats, suspension with some M badges on?" I did put him right!

Goes back to my old point of the M looks too much like the standard Z4 range.

To the untrained eye, this may be true. The same could be said for the M5 vs the 550i. The days of the E30 M3 that looks like nothing you've ever seen are over. Come on Breaker! You're still trying to convince yourself! I can tell. :poke:

It always baffles me why some people try to make their cars ' look' like a more powerful version. Just show, and no more go! :fuelfire:
When i had the Z3 i thought about improving its performance by fitting a supercharger, along with uprating the suspension, brakes etc... Was going to keep it looking like a standard Z3 that would keep up with an M. A wolf in sheeps clothing :D

I'd love that to happen! :)

"Yeah, it is actually a 2 litre 4 cylinder engine..." :D

What discussion was that Outrun?
Would be interested in seeing all the arguments for and against that!
:)

lol at some of the post very fuuny the things some people come out with. I've seen ///M badges on all sorts of non bmw's which I find even more odd than someone sticking them on a 3 series deisel :D

I took the badges off mine as I've said a hundred times, and I was thinking of sticking one onto the back of my Peuguot 406 diesel.

Would that be ok ? :D
