Really worried

Looks a bad boy  But in Cleo, I have one evil girlIMG_0009.JPG

Hope Jasper the subject of this post is recovering

Glad to hear that Jasper is recovering well.

If we’re sharing pictures of our moggies, here’s our Siberian Forest Cat looking majestic:

And here after too much catnip, looking far less so:

Thanks all

Jasper recovering well.
His tube was removed without sedation so it was done while I waited. And it meant he didn't spend another 24hrs feeling rotten while it wore off.

Removed the plaster from his neck today to let the air at it and hopefully help it scab quicker.

Looks like he's singing here...I think he's happy that he's feeling better with no bandages and back home.

20th December he's to go back and get a check up...and hopefully healed enough to have the wires removed.

Good to see he kept his teeth despite the severity of his facial injuries.

I asked the hospital about his teeth when he was admitted. I was quite surprised given the extent of the jaw and skull injuries.

That is one special cat you have there. Now off to update my wife on Jaspers progress as she has also now taken an interest.

Keep the good news and Pics of Jasper coming :thumbsup

My other girl Nanu, who unfortunately is no longer with us in relaxed mode.:Nanu at rest.png

Jasper's recovery continues.
He's to be kept in for 6weeks but keeps looking to get out. So harness and lead were purchased and he was walked around the garden. Seemed unsure at first but came round after a while. 15mins outside to hopefully satisfy him for a few days. But might become a regular thing....walks round the garden under supervision.
Wound on his neck has dried and healing well.

He's eating well - gourmet mousse and pate with Applaws fish chunks mixed in.

I'm incredibly grateful to you guys here on the forum for the support, to the good samaritan who found him, the hospital who operated and to the insurance who have paid over 6.5k leaving me with the excess of around £800. A sore one but a small price to pay for saving my boy.

The harness is a good idea. Nanu in my avatar was a rescue that had never been outside. She was terrified and did not want to go out until we got a harness. After a while despite opening the door, she would insist on having the harness fitted even though the lead wasnt. It took us ages to get her to realise she didnt need the harness. Great to see Jasper up and about. Must be a much happier cat.

PS The wife loves the pictures and the updates so keep them coming.

Keep going Jasper, a day at a time little dude.

I’m a cat dad myself, so certainly feel for you and it seems like you’re through the worst, onwards and upwards :)

Beautiful cat.

Jasper update

All going great!

He's decided that he's not mad about going outside with the harness on. When we put it on him, he decides that he's not moving at all. And he makes no attempt to run out the door when it's open. I'm more than happy if he's made that decision on his own rather than us keeping him in if he's itching to get out.
He's wearing his harness in one of the photos and the lightweight mesh bandage which covered his neck to stop him scratching has now been removed.
You can see the wire in his mouth in the other photo. He'd just eaten on Saturday and the camera captured the moment his tongue was up licking his upper lips and roof of mouth. The wire is very clear but not often visible.

He's moving more quickly and making darting movements with his head when a bird catches his eye outside. He even chased Molly so he's feeling much closer to normal.

Hard to believe that just under 4 weeks ago, I was heading into Glasgow hospital thinking I was going to say goodbye. What a transformation!!

one special cat and one special owner. You deserve each other. Long may the relationship continue

It looks like he is making a great recovery.

Back in 2003 Mrs Tidy called me at work with a shopping list for the pet shop and told me to meet her at the vets. She had adopted a poorly cat at work (with the owner's permission). Turns out he'd come off 2nd best in a scrap with a fox. We put a harness and lead on him when we moved house even though he hated it, but after we stopped using it he still managed to go missing so we had to walk around the area until I found him!

Great that you found him and well done for rescuing him in the first place.
Jasper hasn't been out with the harness since that first night. When we put it on him, he sits down and refuses to move. On one occasion he went as far as the top step at the patio doors. Was shaking a bit but may have been the cold. We've never forced it so if he's not keen then he'll stay inside. Given his inclination to wander a fair distance from the house, I'm more than happy if he's now had a change of heart and prefers indoors.

Jasper looks tough as old boots, very glad he’s still on the mend

Never been a cat person until this little fella adopted us. He’s weird as hell but absolutely awesome.
