Thanks for everything, moving on.

No way, Z4 is the best car I've owned... then again I'm only 22 and last car was a fiesta, but hey! If it's pretty much the same performance as the golf and the Z4 looks better and can have the top down then suuuuurely the z4 is the one to keep? Ahh well, if only i had two cars! Personally, I'm sticking with my zed! :D

3 X Boxster S then ! X Z4 and back in a Boxster........ I don t dislike zeds but like Boxsters more

The only VAG replacement I would have considered for my much loved Corrado VR6 would have been the new Scirocco, but I am loathed to spend £24k on a 2.0L VW. The most disappointing thing about the Rocco for me is the current lack of a 6 pot engine.

My friend got his new Scirocco last week, it’s a company car so could only get the 1.4

Don't know if you know much about that engine but it is absolutely fantastic, it has a supercharger and turbo producing 158bhp, and again it’s a 1.4.

As for the interior build quality – it’s better than the original z4, but hey the design of the Scirocco is a how many years newer? Things move on, the new z4 is better again.

Everyone wants something different in a car.
I moved on just a few weeks ago. To a diesel, fwd "hatchback"....

Do I regret it?

Yes  :headbang:

I'm contemplating asking the dealer if they'll take the car back but I'd have to take a hit on the costs.

I miss the RWD, it's simply better.
I miss the 3.0 petrols power range, despite my deisel having similar bhp it's rev range is too short and it doesn't feel nearly as usable, plus the mpg isn't exactly a great improvement over the Z4, getting just 2mpg more
I miss having a relativly light weight car thats close to the ground, my current car isn't exactly a 4x4 but it's never going to corner like a sports car. Which means it just doesn't feel special to drive.

I should have gone the whole way and got a dull saloon, diesel, but then they're so big and heavy they don't get great mpg either and I'd still have regrets.
It's hard to beat a sports car that can give 34-35 mpg.

I'm thinking if I get another sports car I'll cut down my millage a lot by cycling/train to work about half the time, I badly need some excersise anyway. I didn't like putting 20k a year on my Z4 and it's probably the sports car that can cope with it the best, other cars I'd definetly want to keep closer to 10k a year.
I've already contacted one guy advertising his Z4 on here. I've also been looking at Boxsters, I'd just like to see what they have to offer. I'd go for an older Boxster though and have a few grand spare to cover potential bills.

A cookie to anyone that can guess the car I bought.
It's obviously diesel (with poor mpg), it's not quite a hatchback, it's FWD and it's one of the few cars as good looking as a Z4.

Just a shot in the dark.....a 1 series?

if not can i have a cookie anyway im starving!

i dont think i could let go of my zed, especially for the difference in performance etc.

hope you get it back!

all Bimmers are RWD, except for the AWD ones.

Now gimme my cookie, there is only one good looking Diesel!

it was just a guess.............i wanted the cookie!
All BMWs (not counting the MINI and the 4x4s) are RWD

personally I quite like the 1 series coupe...

My first guess would have been a Brera, but the "isn't exactly a 4x4" threw me.

We have a winner! you got it quicker than I thought you would.

The isn't exactly a 4x4 was meant to mean, it's not tall and wobbly

The 1 series was a strong consideration but poor dealerships and the endless list of parts I'd want to mod/update, put me off. It would have been a better choice though.
Half the problem I've found when looking at owners forums of all the common cars, the diesels all get poor mpg compared to their stated figures and often suffer more problems than their petrol alternatives.

After my totaly depressing earlier post, I went out for a drive in the Brera.... and popped into a few dealerships for a nosey around....
I think I've been a bit hard on the Brera, thinking about it too much without actually driving it, it's not a bad handling car. The power band is still too narrow though.
I sat in a Boxster though... for a 2002 it's leather was a bit too cracked and it was overpriced. But my interest in Boxsters has only been confirmed :driving:

Hehe, it was easy!

I really like the Breras, beautiful cars, best looking cars around at the moment I think.

They look great and build quality is ok. But I think they need a petrol, ie. the V6 and the whole car needs to be lighter. The Prodrive tuned Brera S is the one to go for I think.

yeah I could only stretch to the Diesel when I looked and I can't justify a diesel engine, with the miles I do it would have been more expensive to run than a petrol.

They may have finally got the reliability and build quality right with the ex BMW man there now, so you can buy a lot worse than a Brera.

When I spoke to my mates about possibly getting one a few months ago I said I think it is the one car I would willing be able to take a drop in performance on due to the looks.
