Thanks and good bye!

I had no problems with either Bowker (B'Burn and Preston) and Williams (Manc) when looking for mine. Both provided a really decent experience with numbers there and then and a test drive sorted out within 30 mins.

I have to say that I've looked at "S" Audi's myself - the Quattro system does tempt me a little bit. I've been trying to apply the man-maths to an RS3 but it's just not quite there at the moment and I can't really justify it. They are awesome performing cars though - 4.5s to 62mph for an RS3 is simply mindblowing considering it's basically a 5 door family hatchback.

I think the Audi S3 is a great choice! I'm in the process of hopefully ordering a new 5 door sportback. I was really impressed with the S3 when I took one for a test drive recently and the quality of the interior is just brilliant. Enjoy your new car!

Sorry to hear your leaving but knowing the dealership you were dealing with I can 100% understand. I'd rather take my car to anywhere else in the UK other than them. They are a farce and due to me bashing them in public I now have the main man following me on Twitter lol!

Car looks braw and its a great choice and great getting such a good discount too.

Always find Chris Harris review a good one
I agree, the guy tells it like it is, he loves the NEW S3 as you can see here http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=29784

Interesting how he mentioned it would be a much closer run now with M135i which shows how bad the old S3 was.

Joking aside the S3 does appeal simply for its year round capability which makes Beemers a pain come winter and faffing with winter tyres. I just baulk at the extra outlay on the Audi over the 1 Series for basically the luxury of 4WD. Don't know what discounts you can get on S3s but if closer to the 1 Series I would be seriously tempted next time around :) Always loved my old A3 1.8T Sport but were sensible prices new back then.

Tim.

Enjoy your new wheels. A savvy bit of haggling there.

And when the urge returns for that sports car, get down to the dealer.

Well if you had spec'd the M135i with 4 wheel drive then it's wouldn't be such a pain but both the xdrive m135i and the S3 come with summer tyres so really to make the most of them you either need to swap to winter tyres or all year round tyres.

You can't get the M135i xdrive in the UK :(

Tim.

They've really missed a trick there. I knew it was aavalible but didn't realise they never brought it to the UK M135i

An m135 4wd in auto would do us nicely. It would be a nice replacement for my wife's Quattro !
Until BMW get their act together, a 135 is a non starter for us.

4WD and Auto would kill the fun though :|

Faster when its slippy tho!

Testers alway seem to drive a 4WD like a RWD car i.e. power on to get the tail out, and keep it out but In normal road use, Quattro is best at going in at a good speed with moderate/light throttle and getting the power on coming out of the corner early.
Ive never driven the Quattro on a track so I can't comment that scenario.

Its still fun and it's faster - It may not be showboating!

As for the Auto bit , its been done to death but here's a question for you, on the Autobahn in your in you manual M135, you want to accelerate as hard as you can. You are doing 100mph, What gear would you change down to?

Anyway the spec for her new car is not something i can determine - I can only have some influence but she has her own mind and a 4wd Auto it is! (Oh and sat nav)

3.0 TDi V6 in my wife's car!

As much BHP as my BMW 3.0 six but 45 mpg if that really bothers you - but real grunt!

Well if you look at the M135i here M135i deal I got a 3 door S3 with a few options and after a lot of pushing for £2k more.

The big selling point was when I looked at the used prices, three year old, old shape S3's are still fetching £20+k. Used prices So a loss of £8k in three years is a no brainer! Some cars lose that in the first year.

Although we run our Quattro A4 on vredestein sessanta all year round (I've got a disco 3 on winters) it's still occasionally driven on snow an ice and while it has enough traction to get going when other 2wd would flounder (especially a BMW on runflats) it has the same braking ability as any other non winter tyre equipped car.

If it was our only car, it would get winter rubber.
