A BIG thank you from me to 3 forum members I've met over the last couple of weeks.
1) JohnE89
I went to see John at his home a couple of weeks ago.
I had been trying to buy a certain item from John which he really didn't want to sell.
Many on this forum know John has been having a tough time recently with his health, he's got enough on his plate without trying to help someone he's never met.
Without going into fine detail John sourced this part for me
without being asked he just kindly thought about helping a stranger.
He had it delivered to his home and invited me to go over and collect it.
I'd just like to thank John very much and say his attitude to his situation is inspirational and we could all Learn a lot from his determination I know I certainly did. John you are A true Gent.
By the way he's got 2 lovely Z's. ( I'm jealous of his garage
)
Thank You John.
2) Andyfanshawe.
Long story short. ( well as short as I can make it
)
I went to see Andy because I though my car had developed the dreaded sticky steering.
I booked in with Andy because I'd been having trouble with my back seizing up recently and didn't think I could do the eccentric ring adjustments myself.
My car has never had the flicking or tramlining steering some have experienced it was just the dead central position that seemed to stick.
Most noticeable on long straights motorways etc.
I had to make a definite movement left or right to make any slight adjustment in direction.
Difficult to put in words but in any " normal car" making slight direction changes you can do it without even thinking about it , with my car it was like steering a boat I had to keep both hands on the wheel and make a very conscious effort to steer straight.
It was a chore and spoiled the experience of driving the car and I think could become dangerous.
Off to Andy's we had a chat and I tried to explain the best I could. Andy decided before adjustment to the ring that He'd plug in his machine but no fault codes showed on the car.
Not deterred he put the wheels in the dead ahead position and reset what I think he said was the steering Angle sensor.
I drive home and it was worse than ever I had visions of a £2k bill for a steering rack coming my way.
As this is a 3rd car it was left in the garage for 4 days before driving it again, well could you believe it the steering is now fantastic. Nicely weighted, no centre position stiffness in fact no no resistance in any steering position, the best it's ever been in my 4 years of ownership.
I went back to Andy a week later for the CDV delete and a brake sensor changing, what with the fantastic steering and CDV delete it's a very enjoyable car to drive I'm now loving it again.
Thank You Andy. Top guy very knowledgeable
3) Ducklakeview.
I've been over to St Helens to see Mike today for the relocation of my roof motor to the boot.
A great drive 2 hour over the Snake pass and plenty of motorway to make sure my steering is as it should be and enjoy the CDV delete, back the same way. Happy to report all is well love the car again..
Mike is now very experienced at moving the motor to the boot. I was amazed how wet my motor was as this car is a garage queen, I keep the drains clear, it normally only gets wet when I wash it.
Motor successfully and very professionally moved in double quick time Mike then did some reprogramming to my pre facelift E85.
Re code Key to to get the roof to open and close, Passenger window 1 touch close, doors lock at 2mph, flash and beep on lock and flash only when open locks and he did a delay on windows operating when ignition off.
I think that was all no doubt Mike will say if I missed something.
Top guy quick professional clean work and very good discount to forum members.
Thank you Mike.
Oh a thank you to the forum for introducing me to these members.
If you've managed to read all this a big thank you to you whoever you are
