TG's daily: E91 320d Sport

I thought I'd start a thread for my new daily, a 2006 E91 320d Sport (163hp) in Le Mans Blue.

I bought it early June and within a week the ECU drowned in a torrential downpour, so that wasn't fun but it's an easy fix (but not cheap!).

I've got plans to lower it slightly on Eibach Pro springs, fit some 18in Style 162 alloys and decent rubber (it's got runflats ffs!), some mild tints, debadge and replace the front grilles with some gloss black ones. I'm also looking to remap it, fit a new intercooler, EGR delete, down-pipe de-cat, and blank the swirl plates.

More to come...

Not my kind of car. But a lovely colour.

Yes, probably the best colour offered on the E9* 3 Series.

I had an E91 325i for a year, but replaced it with an E90 330i earlier this year for a bit more entertainment! Shame both of them were boring Sparkling Graphite.

A 320d would have been the sensible option, but I don't do that many miles any more so I stuck with the N52!

I'd imagine your 320d probably has more torque than my 325i had - which is what I found disappointing about it.

I agree on the colour - I seem to have a thing for finding favourable colours on my cars at the moment :)

I would have loved to have bought a 330d instead, but I felt like I should try retain some of my income, seeing as I'm covering over 16,000 miles a year...

The torque is quite decent on this. It feels much less responsive (even down low) than my zed, but a remap should sort it out I think!

On the weekend I got back from an 800-odd mile round trip from Ringwood to Tavistock (in Devon), Gorran Haven (in Cornwall) and back via Exmoor. In between there were loads of day trips as well, and I think I've found my new favourite road, the B3224 through Exmoor - well worth a drive if you're in the region!

Before we left, I fitted gloss black front grilles and debadged the rear end. It looks much cleaner and more modern now. Also gave the car a much-needed clean!

A couple of pics from Dartmoor, watching the sun set:

And one from Exmoor:

So I decided to take the plunge, drive the five-hour return to Coventry and pick up a mint set of Style 162 wheels with proper rubber.

Fitted them last night, and I'm chuffed with the result. Won't be to everyone's taste, but I'm loving them!

I think they look much better than what it came one, and they are in great condition - plus a bit easier to clean too!

Thanks Mr Tidy! I'm really happy with them, and can't help but check them out whenever I get the chance! :)

Took a snap of the daily at work the other day.
Gave it a good clean and polish on Sunday. so thought I best make the most of the newfound shine!

During the 2-hr clean:

Also fitted some Bosch Aerotwins, which actually fit really crap but work well. I'm going to see if I can modify the caps from the BMW wipers to sit over the top of these. Not holding my breath though!
