Thinking of ways to use a tablet as the display instead of a phone but was wondering whether tethering one to my phone to use Google maps as a sat nav would seriously dent my data allowance. Does tethering use more data or the same as a phone.....anyone know?

Tethering will use the same amount per device running the same apps. But, remember that your phone will be using data on apps which maybe running as well. If you have nothing running on your phone, just using it as a hotspot, then all the data used will be from apps on the tablet but via the phone, if that makes sense, lol.
Ah that's good news...thank you bothso now i know I can use Google maps on the tablet as my nav....just need to work out how to use it as a phone screen (key pad display)
