Testing the water- Z4 Coupe 3.0 Silver/Grey

Hello,
Please see advert for my BMW Z4 3.0 Coupe.

I’ve owned the car roughly 8 months, i’ve always admired the Z4 Coupe and when this one came up I instantly loved it!

Its covered 65750 and is registered as a “damaged/repaired” i believe it to be a Cat C if memory serves me correct.
I was told the damage included replacing the offside cill & wings.
I *believe* when the car was damaged (unsure of year, but i think around 2017/18) the log book was lost or held by the insurance company.

I’ve had my mechanic whom specialises in repairing crash damaged vehicles give the vehicle a once over and he is very complimentary of the repair work.

My Z4C has covered just 65750 miles, drives fantastically and i’ve currently done nothing to the car since i purchased it.

However, like any 15 year old car, it does have its little blemishes-
Slight crack in rear 3rd brake light
Small scratches on lower rear bumper (i think it will polish out)
A couple of alloys have minor kerbings, never bothered me.
Drivers side cup holder has a snapped arm to be replaced.
Drivers side seat bolster shows minor wear
As mentioned, i expect the car has been serviced meticulously due to the condition of the car, however a new service books only show 2 recent services.

This said, its a cracking car and here are the positives.
Good tyres all round, only done around 6k on them.
Decent low miles - 65750 currently.
The bodywork shows only minor stone chips, most not noticeable!
Rare cup holders.
Heated seats
Heated rear windscreen.
Rear parking sensors.
17inch Alloys with RFT all round.
Sport mode.
6 speed manual.

Only has 2 months left on MOT, however should the Z4C not sell before June i will fully service and put 12 months MOT on car.

I encourage you to bring a mechanic and look around the car before the auction finishes on Saturday if you are serious about buying.

In all, its a brilliant car that always puts a smile on my face. Reason for selling is i need to purchase a van again. I’m not in an rush to sell it so i encourage genuine enquiries only.

Should you have any questions, please email me and we can always discuss over the phone further.

*Private plate NOT included!*

You press buy it now to purchase, not to view!
Sold as seen, with no warranty.
Collection only from York and strictly no returns.

Sad news OP - but you never know it may not sell!

If your car is on 17" wheels it sounds like it may be an SE model, but from your photos it has the M-Sports seats and a few other popular options like rear parking sensors, heated seats and the MFSW. It would be worth highlighting these, and any others like cruise, Bi-Xenon headlights, etc.

You say it was damaged/repaired - do you know if it was a Cat C or D, or Cat S or N as that is likely to influence potential buyers' minds.

It's also useful to give an indication of whereabouts it is.

Finally on the Service History front, people on here like to know what work was done, when, at what mileage and by whom!

Anyway, good luck.

Looks silvergrey not silver op :?
& hate to be the one to say it but a CAT registered ZC on 17s with a cracked rear light ( they are pricey  ) & partial history is going to struggle right now at the current ask of £6800 even with 65k miles
Keep hold if you can

Evening both!
Thanks for your inputs..!

As you can tell i’ve not gone into much detail about the car as your right its got the M-Sport seats, parking sensors, heated seats etc etc!
I know full well its going to take good money and the right person to take it off my hands as i love owning it too much!

i searched for the right one for ages and having my best mate who specialises in repairing damaged vehicles, as its a niche market which unfortunately is riddled with cowboys! After his inspection and positive comments its been a great car!

He’s looked the vehicle over and is very complimentary to the work done. If the pictures don’t show the damage it had, and the repairs done then in my eyes as long as a mechanic struggles to tell as its been a good repair, don’t worry!!
I think it was a Cat C if memory serves me correct, however it had a replacement Sill trim, and front passenger wing i’m lead to believe!

Ref Wheels - i’ve never found a set i’ve liked that wouldn’t be over £1000 with tyres too. Always fancied the CSL or type 78s for it but i’ve just enjoyed the pleasure of driving it to worry about styling it or “modifying”!

I’m tempted if it doesn’t sell shortly to sort the rear brake light, and probably do the Vanos for piece of mind!

The partial history was the only thing that put me off, but brakes, discs and pads are all really good and again my mechanic spent a fair bit of time being critical under neath and he again says its clearly been looked after!

I suspect, as he points out when it was “pranged” the service book was lost on transporting around the yards where they hold them?? Either way i’m glad the previous owner has started the service history again at i think 52k!

I’m located in York 😀

Thanks again!

Well it being a Cat C would explain the lack of any service history as the insurance company normally wants that to help value the car, and they tend to keep it!

Back in the 80s a mate of mine was buying salvage cars from insurers and usually only ever got any history if it was in the car when it got crumpled - unless he knew who was handling the claim obviously.

I advertised my 3.0Si Sport Coupe back in December (not the ideal time of year to be fair) that wasn't recorded on the Total Loss Register, but had done more miles than yours. I don't know if it may be useful to you, but here is a link to my advert:- https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=119180

The first forum member to view it bought it on 8 February.

A little update-
34 watchers, nearly 2000 views and 3 days left!
Couple of “cheeky” offers been on it but its still for sale as i write this!
Had another blast out to the shops yesterday, be sad to see it go 🥺

If I'm being honest, the eBay advert wouldn't fill me with optimism as a potential buyer.

You've noted that it "pulls like a train", but haven't bothered to put any meaningful detail of the insurance write-off or service history.

It sounds like you're being evasive, even if it's unintentional. And I suspect this is why you're only getting "cheeky offers". Just my $0.02.

Also avoid phrases like " It pulls like a train " You're only going to attract chav types with that kind of language.

Hi both,
Many thanks for your inputs..
Not privately sold many cars, as you can probably tell!

As i’ve stated right at the start, i’m quite keen to keep it, but its other needs..

I will re-work the adverts and see if i can make it more appealing😊
Thanks again!
