NO LONGER NEEDED Testing the water - Looking for a manual Z4 E89 in about a month's time...

As per the title, I am putting the feelers out and will be looking for a Z4 E89, probably in around 4 weeks time.

I posted my current situation on here when I joined - I'm waiting for my driving licence to be returned from DVLA after I suffered a seizure last year. I spoke to them yesterday, and apparently they have got all the information/medical forms etc I'd sent, but now I need to submit a D1 application form, which they hadn't told me about (VERY annoying!). After I receive that from them, and send it back with a postal order (What? πŸ˜‚) and a passport photo, they estimate it will take approx 3 weeks to issue the new licence.

Anyway, my wish list for the Z4 includes the following:

An E89 with manual gearbox, as new as possible (maybe 2014-ish), and in minty mint condition. Not bothered about engine size/number of cylinders, but must be low mileage and FSH. Any colour except black, any interior colour except brown or beige, any wheel design but preferably not black, and a fully working roof. Prefer to avoid CAT S or CAT N if possible.

Desirable extras to include large screen nav and iDrive twiddly knob thingy (oooer missus!) if possible. A reversing camera or distance sensors front and rear would be good. Other than that, I think most E89's have got everything else I need as standard (y)

My budget is under Β£10K, but preferably around Β£8K or less if possible. There seems to be plenty available in that price range for sale, and I'd be happy to travel a reasonable distance from Peterborough for the right car.

For guidance, I was watching a lovely 2016 Valencia Orange E89 with 62K miles on eBay recently, up for offers around Β£6999. Unfortunately, the seller decided to sell via We Buy Any Car in the end, so I missed out on that one.

Anyone on the forum likely to have a suitable car up for sale in about 4 weeks time? Feel free to PM me, or just post comments on here if preferred.

Cheers ☺️

My Valencia Orange 18i could go for Β£8,000 - it's a 2015 car with the Design Pure Traction but no iDrive or PDC.

I'm the 3rd owner and it's just had a full comprehemsive service & MOT - the reg is G9 AUK and there is a full ownership thread on the ZRoadster forum

As per Garrie's post above, I am now the proud owner of this beautiful Valencia orange E89 Z4:

We had a few issues involving the DVLA taking ages to reissue my driving licence after my seizure last year, and I'm so grateful to Gwest44 for his patience waiting for me to be in a position to buy it. I think he will be glad to see the back of me, but of course he's too nice to admit that πŸ˜‚

So, what's the car like...? Well, that's an easy question to answer, it's bloody brilliant! Obviously the colour has been well discussed on here, and it goes without saying that some will like it, and others will hate it. No prizes for guessing what side I am on... I think it suits the car perfectly, and shows off the curves of the bodywork without being too... er... flashy (who am I kidding, of course it is flashy, that's the whole point!)

First impressions are fantastic. The car is really nice to drive, very comfortable, and not noisy or loud with the top up - Which at my age is not a bad thing, ha ha! We didn't bother putting the top down for the mainly motorway drive from Sheffield to Peterborough, but will give it a try in the next few days when the weather improves.

The car seems nicely put together, everything feels solid, and the interior is beautifully finished. Gearchange is precise, the clutch is nice and light, and the brakes are perfectly weighted. The only negative I can think of is the steering seems quite difficult to keep dead straight, which is possibly due to the fact I haven't driven a car for nearly a year and a half... I tried out the comfort and sport modes, and that didn't seem to make a massive difference, although it was possibly slightly more stable in sport mode.

I won't be modifying this one at all, that's not really my thing. It will be kept completely standard, properly maintained, and cherished (that more or less goes without saying). There are a couple of small things that will need addressing, but overall the car is in beautiful condition. The LH front light is full of condensation, so that will need sorting. On close inspection there are a few stone chips and scratches on the paintwork, so that will need to be looked at sometime, but not really urgent TBH. I'd quite like to have the car machine polished and ceramic coated sometime, if I can find someone reliable. Other than that, I can't think of anything negative to say.

The biggest compliment I can give is the Z4 feels as good as my Porsche Cayman, and that was as close to perfection as I'm ever likely to own.

Anyway, enough of the waffling, here are a couple of pics taken when I got the car home:

Any comments welcome, obviously (y)

Congratulations Dave - that's the best colour for an E89.

If it hasn't been done already it can easily be mapped for 28i power or a bit more!

I've changed your thread header too.

Great introduction and I'm pleased you like it Dave - I look forward to following your ownership journey πŸ‘
