Virgin aren't rolling out any more cable, so in areas that are not cabled BT don't really have incentive to roll out FTTC as everyone in those areas already pays lots of money for crappy broadband as they don't have a choice. BT will roll out FTTC in the cabled areas first in order to try and gain some of the cable customers. :thumbsdown:

we have FTTC enabled at our exchange, but I still can't get it!
only choice for fibre here at the moment is Virgin, and had bad experience with them (admittedly when thery were NTL World here...) so am a bit reluctant when the existing connection (through O2/BE) is pretty reliable with great support...

Recently swapped from the useless TalkTalk where I was getting a max of 3Mb/s for the same money:

Why? Well, here's my wifi speed at home:
That's with Sky Broadband Unlimited, with speeds of 'up to' 20mbps!! Have rung them countless times but they say that's all the server can handle (BS32 postcode). Needless to say its annoying, watching YouTube is basically impossible and I have to often resort to my 3G:
As you can see marginally better, just enough to watch a vid! Any suggestions? Sky say that's the best they can do, still have a good 6-9 months left in contract...sad times.

Well! While I was travelling this week, family reported dead Internet. Came home to it working and upgraded! Nothing like fibre speeds, but router now reports an 18Mbps connection, I got 15 to 16 on multiple tests. Super chuffed with that

If your speed is crap, unplug everything from the phone sockets, test it again, and possibly try a new filter (swap the around if you have two)
The filter is the white adapter the router and phones plug into that then plugs into the socket. Every device should have a filter. Sometimes they fail
Obviously, don't do any of that if you have a 2Mbps line as you're getting that speed!

But then looking on that SpeedTest site, they have a map and there are others on roads around mine who are getting speeds like yours with other servers, how can that be? It's all very emotional...!
