My nav is useful but definitely wouldn't be worth 2k premium! If you make sure it's reflected in the price I say go for it, at least that way you don't have the annoying flip up screen appearing everytime you change a track on the cd player...

2dogs if you see a car at a dealer somewhere then mention it on here and someone will go and give it a very critical once over for you. At least that way you wouldn't be wasting a trip up North to look at a lemon. Most on here would know the sort of standard you want. perfect as can be interior, no snags, wear marks, dents, etc etc.

On an X5 it is £3k loss if no satnav.

On a Z - I don't know, but on the top model I just observe that without them they do not sell (at least the ones that don't also don't have satnav).

My local dealer says as PVR (well nearly) they say it's essential, and £500 for Z4

Interestingly though, I looked at one without (but I guess tyre kickers don't count) and there are some on here who do without. Essential, not exactly, but do you need to get a very good deal, yes, and do you need to be patient when selling, yes. For me built in satnav would have been a nice to have for the Intravee - seeing Tony's coupe with the built in nav and a TomTom on the window summed it up for me.

I think moving forward (next couple of years) it will be interesting. I think the E85 edition sat-nav is already starting to look quite dated, certainly compared to the new model and current portable devices... could it date cars more than those without as our expectations change?

As most of the Zs on the road are used for short trips, going to work and back
and some fun at the weekend where getting lost is all part of it , so I cant see the point in sat nav. :|
yes, if your a salesman/woman slapping around the UK it a godsend, but not
sure you would buy a Z to do that job!

When lost in Germany and the road is closed and you drive through the mountains to get from the middle of nowhere to the end of nowhere, I find it pretty useful

The road was closed, the wanted to clear it for a cycle race - they told me to speed up when I was already doing almost twice the speed limit

so the hunt for the M/// can now move up a gear


until then this is my new set of wheels (2.0L of throbbing auto power :evil: )
