I tried the new Z4 sDrive30i first time today.
The car had sport automatic transmission and normal suspension. The ride was really softer than E85/86 sport model, but was still well balanced on twisty roads. It was very comfortable. The cabin noise was much less on motorway when compared to old model. The test drive covered both B-road and motorway. The sport automatic transmission was much better than I thought. The gear change was very quick (almost instantly). The car I drove however did not have sport seats, and standard seats were bit soft for keen drivers. The steering wheel's rim was thinner than sport model's (I love my chunky M Sport steering wheel). I tried both normal and sport model, but could not really tell the difference under normal driving condition, i.e. slow and smooth.
After the test drive, I have now made my mind up. I am now looking for a sDrive23i with manual 6-speed transmission, Adaptive M Sport suspension, bluetooth telephone prep. and navigation system. (or should I have a brand new standard M Sport model with the price I am going to pay?)
The salesman tried to sell me one of their stock cars after the test drive, but the car did not have the options I wanted. I said I would wait for the right car to come.
Breaker: IIRC your car has Adaptive M Sport suspension. Would you buy the new Z4 without it (if people really prefer very hard ride in the old Z4)? Salesman said it will be hard to find a 23i with both Adaptive M Sport suspension and Sat Nav.
