test drive insurance

Hi,

Going to see a Z4MC tomorrow, tried a couple of temporary insurance co's but they wont cover the M for a day. Going to check with Admiral if I can add the car for a day, but anyone else used a cost effective co for test drive insurance?

Doing an HPI check gives you 7 days free insurance. Well it did the last time I checked.

Will the seller not cover you? Is it private/trade?

Alternatively, can you not ask your existing insurer (assuming you're fully comp) to allow you cover on any car? My policy lets me drive any car that doesnt belong to me, so long as I have the owners permission?

Yes, as 3rd party cover only. Would you let some random drive your Z4MC with effectively no cover if the random stacks it?

Private sale, need my own cover to drive the car. Did a hpi check using a discount code from moneysaving expert! Just 10 quid for the check.

Will post up once I've found cover, just playing with I-pad out in a shop!
