Test drive in new Z4

It is nicer looking in the flesh. I had a test run in the 35i. It has a nice bark but nothing like the //M. When you put the foot down, it's very smooth and it get's up to speed at a similar rate to the //M but with much less drama. Interior-wise it's in a different league to the older Z4, this one had a white-pack (or something like that anyway) and it looks very luxurious. All of the controls are now made of decent looking materials as well. I was looking forward to playing with the iDrive but this one didn't have one. It feels more spacious too, the replacement of the hand brake with a switch is a nice touch (although, I must say, I prefer the manual approach) and push button start is cool too.

Definitely not a potential replacement for the Z4M in my opinion; they're completely different cars. The Z4 had turned into an SLK Grand Tourer. Let's hope the guys in the //M department get a hold of this car for the next Z4MR (or should I say Z4MCC)

The dealer offered me £20k trade in for my 07 Z4M. Not a chance!

Anyone else had an experience in the new car? Anyone buying?

Not many buyers on here, haven't seen anyone placed a firm order yet. Couple of guys on Zpost from the UK that are collecting soon, that's about it.

Is it a fair rule of thumb that the dealer will offer you around 4k less than he will stick it on the forecourt for? I'd guessed that I'd get 20k for mine trade in on this basis.

Prices of old Z4 have gone up. Even 2.5si/3.0si (2-year-old) are just above £20k at dealers. The trade-in of your Z4M should be worth at least £24k.

Yep. The dealers put £4k above the trade-in values of my previous 2 BMW.
