Anyone seen the new Tesla showroom in Solihull?

Total game changer. Inside the shopping centre with both models and a chassis on demo. Working through the choices is so different with single or dual motors for 2 or 4wd, ba terry size, range, etc. it's like a new language.

I'm very Impressed with the whole car, capabilities ( even ignoring the sub 3 second model...) and looks / quality even on a base model.
As a petrol head I see it as the future, regardless of my love of the noise of an IC engine. Performance, cost to run, environment, etc..

Base price of £50k is the only thing that stops me ordering one today and trading in the Jag.

Not been to the one in Solihull but went to their showroom in Bristol on Friday and had a test drive in the P90D Model S. Overall very impressed, the interior is fantastic, Autopilot worked as it should on the motorway and the reverse parking did its job too. Very little for the driver to do really, would be an excellent commuter car.

And of course there is the power 8) soo soo much of it! The sales guy was really cool too and invited me to try ludicrous mode from 0-60 on a straight bit of road around Severn beach, take off was very undramatic but shockingly quick, supposed to be 2.8secs.

The price though, I specced a car up to 70K (with autopilot, reverse parking, fast charging options) and the PCP figures were:
16,500K downpayment
500 / month for 24 months
Then hand it back or settle for an undisclosed ATM figure

Costs will be more viable in the future with the launch of the Model 3 and also I would like to see how the cars are for reliability over the next few years, especially the lifetime of the battery pack but I don't doubt anymore that electric cars are the future especially with charging times getting lower.

My other half loves them ... she works for Panasonic who make the batteries for Tesla's ... and as a result feels she should have one as a company car :D

Only thing that stops me getting one is that wherever I want to go there are no superchargers.

Nice car, still a huge lack of infrastructure and no proof it won't go the way of Betamax. Superior tech let down by lack of support and take up.

The infrastructure will follow.
One I was looking at would get me from home in Lichfield to Heathrow airport and back with no charging. That's ample at over 250 miles.

Tesla are the company that will make electric work..

The performance and the range is good enough now for the majority of users..

However the price isnt as yet,im sure that will change.
