Tesco Momentum99

Usually use T99, car seems happy on it but V power is fine as well. Car seems a little grumpy when first started up but I think that's in character with the engine. Never missed a beat really in 4+ years!

Mine is fun whatever i put in (provided it is petrol, obviously). Do get 3-4% better mpg on 99 / V-power though and it 'feels' 3-4% quicker...but couldn't prove that without access to a rolling road I guess. Try sticking it in Sport mode which will bypass the adaptive throttle...maybe it has 'learnt' your driving style on low (relatively )RON fuel and takes a while to adapt to higher RON. But, as ever, I may be talking hoop there!

I use Tesco 99 and have noticed no problems at all, same when I run V power. The problems only come when I use any lesser grade stuff

sure does not like RON 95. Was surprised to notice it.

i use v power and mix 10 litres of Race gas 110 octane...... makes a huge difference and the car runs perfect!!

I've got the same issue on the E92 M3 - just a characteristic of these engines I think. Goes away after a few hundreds yards. Tesco99 for me.

OK, so I dont own an M, but I didnt think the ECU could cope with 100+ RON? :tumbleweed:

Isn't supermarket fuel a little bit of a lottery? Traded/Purchased from different sources depending on the market.
I've gone over to using shell v power (ok so i'm not in an \\\M) but i have noticed an improvement

This is not the case with Tesco Momentum99.

I read somewhere Tesco momentum comes from same refinery as Optimax..? ie basicaly the same?

I dont believe this myself, although makes sense Tesco would buy from a major fuel supplier & simply rebrand it?

Ok the last few weeks I've been topping up with Tesco 99, as apose to V power that I normaly use and thus far running like a dream. :)

Not a surprise to me and in direct contradiction to the poor quality supermarket fuel lobby. Tesco Momentum is a decent standard and for me more than matches the Shell equivalent. Marketing produces some strange views.

You're right, dgm. Some of it is marketing, and some of it is just plain science - hence why I fill up with Sainsburys 97. It'll be one of the fastest turning over super unleaded, so the fuel quality will be better. If it wasn't for the fact I feel the car should have super unleaded, I'd use normal unleaded, as it (obviously) turns over much faster! (Though of course there are more pumps typically)

I use Shell V-Power and because there is only 1 Shell garage in town, with only one V-Power pump, turnover is very quick and there is often a queue of high performance cars at this pump. Previously I've used BP Ultimate which my car really seemed to like as well.

I also use Sainsbury's 97 mostly because there's a Sainsbury's around the corner and they closed the nearest Shell station. Previously I used to use V-Power where possible. But mine doesn't seem to run that well on the Tesco 99 stuff?
