Tesco Momentum 99

Just filled up with Momentum for the first time in a while, had to have a double take at the price. 125.9, sure it was at least 10p more before :)

Prices dropped massively recently. A litre of 95 was £1.12 near me tonight!

Yup, I pulled into the local Shell garage tonight and put £15 in. I would normally just fill her up and not give it a thought. But £1.39 at shell Vs £1.25 at our local Tesco, I did a double take and released the fill handle. :o

I have been using tesco momentum for a while now. Noticed no difference at all to shell nitro other than getting a lot more miles out of a £50 fill than i used to.

What way do you rate the Tesco fuel to say BP. I use BP Ultimate.
There is an auld rumour over here that supermarket fuel is not as good as BP, Shell etc.
I don’t know if there is a difference or not.

I paid £121.9 a litre for Sainsbury's Super (97 RON) on Saturday.

I usually use my local Tesco, but they are charging £120.9 a litre for 95 at the moment. :(

I used Shell once or twice lured in by a reasonable price on the board, but the premium they charge for Super is a p*ss-take so I stopped going there and have used the Tesco Momentum ever since and the car runs just fine on it.

95 RON is 95 RON all the same it only very small amounts of additives that the super markets do not put in this is added when the tanker driver turns up at the refinery to fill his tanker up with fuel these additives are added.

Probably most damage is done from particles in the fuel that is gained from storage and delivery ie dirty tanks and hose's

Have always used Tesco Momentum in both my zeds and never had an issue. Cheaper than Shell and just as good imo.

Come down again here now Tesco £1.22.9 Shell still 1.38.9. That be a huge difference. :o

I monitor my petrol on all my cars each fill up to check MPG. My journeys are fairly consistently the same from day to day. I did 3 months of back to back comparisons between Tesco 95 and 99 Momentum in my 1.6 NA mini and found momentum consistently gave 5% better fuel consumption. Given it is 5p more expensive it seamed like the right thing to do to use momentum particularity as the car feels more responsive. I have used Shell Super Unleaded on a handful of occasions each time the fuel consumption has been slightly worse than Tesco 99. So I tend to use Tesco 99 in both my Z4 and Mini.

Momentum or Costco Premium for me. From what I understand they're effectively the same thing from the same supplier, and considering the price is always similar then I can believe they're the same thing.

Fortunately pass a Costco every evening on my drive home, so very easy to pop in and get the cheapest fuel around!

+1. Exactly what I do, for exactly the same reasons. Paid £1.17 at the Manchester Costco on Wednesday

Sounds about right, think it was the same price at Oldham a couple of weeks ago. Feels like the car has hardly been used over the holidays, been using the other half's 'practical' car

I used to use Shell V Power all the time and paying @ £1.40 for the privilage :o Been using Momentum for 4 months now & the zed seems to love it. Paid £1.24 this week.

Cheers, tug
