Terrorism arrests

More headlines this morning of terrorism raids. That's 2 (reported this week) with more than 10 arrests, can't help thinking that years of planning is now being put in place to take these out before the Olympics.
Of course we won't ever hear the full story, except maybe in a paperback in a few years.

I hope to see the Olympics proceed without any incidents.

I was thinking exactly the same thing, lets hope it all goes without a hitch.

And will someone please stop the press accusing the police of over reacting when someone reports a suspicious package with SMOKE coming out of it on a coach, I got so fed up of airhead reporters asking this very question, what is the alternative? :headbang:

Completely agree, can you imagine the headlines if that bus had exploded and the police had waved it off as not worth investigating? Sadly I think we will see more in the coming weeks, It really puts me off travelling to London.

This along with another rape in Rochdale doesnt make the UK seem that appealing as the tourist flicks through the UK papers while sipping their Latte

Castration is the way to go for Rapists, I would let them serve their sentence and then if at the end of that time no new evidence had come to light proving them innocent, then I would chemically castrate them to ensure it didn't happen again, Rape is such a vile crime it deserves a vile response. Its already used in germany, Sweden and some US states.

Olympics or the anniversary of 7/7 tomorrow? W@nkers :x

And agree with you guys, better they report something like that and be sure. And anyway, its great practice for the emergency services

Of course 7/7 and it will be 7 years, so even more appropriate for some statement

Without wishing to insult the good people of Rochdale I can't imagine many tourists have Rochdale on their list of must-see places Rich!!

In my business we're expecting a small downturn in trade in London during the Olympics but research on previous hosts suggests you get a massive spike in tourism the year following the staging of the games.

Unfortunately castration usually leads to offenders getting more violent - without wishing to be too graphic, using bottles or other objects instead.

Which is why we should not castrate them, history has proved that injecting a piece of lead at high velocity to the back of the head is an instant cure for rapists I can't understand why we don't use that method.

I have to say my comments are based more on emotion than knowledge of the process or outcome, I new a girl who was raped and it haunted her everyday, it made having a normal relationship very difficult, not so for the rapist once time is served, I just wish we had a lot more concern for the Victims of crime and a lot less for the criminals. All crime.

I was burgled about 15 years ago, and when politicians and Police talk about it, they make it sound such a petty crime, I was asleep in bed when the guy broke in and fortunately didn't hear him, but I was really shook up for a few weeks afterwards until I had an alarm system fitted, The police caught the guy and he pleaded guilty to mine and 10 other burglaries, he got a suspended sentence. :headbang:

Burglars should get a minimum of 10 years with a public caning every 6 months, If they were armed when the carried out the crime then that shows intent to harm so again a quick lead injection to ensure they don't do it again.

Couldn't agree more

Don't get me wrong, I do not believe that prison as it stands works, the reason Humans dominate the Animal Kingdom is because we adapt, and that is exactly what people who are sent to prison do, I am not saying they enjoy it, but they adapt to it, and most of the time this means learning more about crime from other criminals, just like we learn about about our cars on here.

Most burglaries are carried out by dope fiends, there should be a zero tolerance of drugs in prisons so that as many as possible are weaned off drugs, another reason for crime is a lack of education, not many jobs out there if you can't read or write.

I would like to see a scheme which is part of the sentence, for every ? months of the sentence the criminal must get an educational qualification, and their sentence wouldn't finish until they had attained that qualification, so if you can't read, that qualification is to learn to read, if you have 6 GCSEs then you get an A level, if you have 3 A levels, then you start a degree, and if you have a degree, you teach other prisoners.

I know for a fact that a lot of kids in prison come from such rough backgrounds that prison really is a holiday for them, but not being allowed out until they have learn't to read and write would be a nightmare for them, but it would of course also be good for them.

You want to try sitting on a plane at Toulouse airport two weeks after 9/11 waiting to take off, while the steward grills the arab guy in the seat in front as to why he is sweating cobs and shaking so much.

I never came so close to getting off a flight at the end of the runway!

Turns out he was just a nervous flyer, but WTF would YOU have done I wonder? :?

WTF would YOU have done I wonder?

Inside I would have been sh*tting myself, but I would turned to my wife and said, "oh it's probably nothing, it will alright, do want a cup of tea when she comes over"

We flew about 6 weeks after 9/11 to LA, to say I was nervous is an understatement, but 2 glasses of champagne later all I was worried about was when lunch was being served and why anyone would want a bed on a flight. :D An hour later I had a horrible hangover (alcohol and pressurised cabins don't mix well for me) and I have never had a drink on a flight since.
