Temporary insurance (extension)

As I have a new Polo coming, it seems that Admiral will extend the insurance on the old one "for a week" or so. There is no way with my current work load that I can even start to try to sell the car seriously, so I want an additional month on the car.

I am only going to have Mrs PVR and myself on it, so when we first got the Polo before the children became the main drivers - we paid £100 for a year, so I don't want to get stung for a stupid amount for a month or so.

Are there any recommended companies for the cheapest temp insurance for a car we won't use?
 
Just tried that, I don't think so :rofl:

They want £200 for that Polo for a month.

Also, their website tells me my email address is invalid. I had to make up a dummy one as it would not accept it (mine is not a .com or .uk).
 
I really struggled with Admiral on this very point last week. Spoke to several different people and they all thought that buying a new car and keeping your old one for a few weeks in order to sell it was extremely unusual :?

Admiral passed me around between the new business team and their customer service and everyone I spoke to came up with different solutions, none of which I was happy with.

Ultimately I handed the keys of the old car to my dad, who has the time to sell it, and he insured it on his policy as an additional car for a month for about £30.

I looked at Tempcover to cover a test drive but they had very little flexibility on postcodes - even if you were going to test drive a car the other side of the country, they exclude you on the basis of your own home postcode. :headbang:
 
I replaced our other car last year with a new car to us.
The car had been insured with LV,the insurance was transferd to the new car.LV did not want know about giving a months extension on the old car.
We contacted Admiral who insure the Z4 who gave us a months cover for about £70 while we selling the car.
 
Take out a brand new admiral policy, you have 28 days to cancel, cancel and they'll refund, take out a new policy with elephant, repeat until car is sold.
