If they ever sort it so these can be fitted with a cd changer I'd have one. I just don't want to loose my changer.

You can add an Intravee switch to control multiple devices. Iirc you'd have to swap the BMW one for an Alpine one though.

What is it about the cd changer that makes you want to hang onto it? I'm struggling to think of anything that can't be ripped to a digital copy for an iPod. For the occasional time you want to play a disc, put it in the head unit...

hi stu..... i guess for me, i like the idea of being able to play all my CD collection... although i have an iphone, i havent got an extensive music library on their and i guess im a 80s kid..... i love the CD and hard copies..... if i could keep on using the cd changer and be able to start a new digital collection i would 100% buy the intravee, however i want it more for the features it offers rather than the music playback, unless im on a long journey i tend to listen to the engine music anyway :-) i have a fabulous sound setup at home, i just dont care about the in car stuff.
Ive never been a fan of disabling something that works perfectly to make another item work..... just goes against my car code.

out of interest what stops the CD changer working?? the the intravee use its jack plugs or something??

The Intravee emulates the CD autochanger so you disconnect it and plug the wiring into the Intravee. I'm with you on owning CDs but I'm paranoid about losing or damaging them, so when I buy one the first thing I do is make a lossless digital copy that goes on my home server, then an mp3 copy that goes on both the home server and the iPod and or iPhone. On a 160GB iPod classic, you can get a huge number of high quality VBR mp3 files on. That way I can stream music around my house, over the internet if I'm travelling (my home network is connected to the outside world) and have my entire collection in the car. Works for me  I haven't used a CD player in either of my cars for at least 3yrs :)

Then next time you get bored, rip out the CD Changer & fit an Intravee on the bulkhead, either mount a tiny Ipod in the flap or get an Iphone cradle..

That way you've gained features, not disabled anything as the car still plays CDs but it's also a weight saving mod :D :poke:

I never had a CD changer so it was a no brainer, extra slot to put stuff too.

I agree, no changer this would be done already. To be fair I'm more than happy to do without.
