Tech question on a Chevy S-10 pickup

Hey all, for some back history, my truck (2000 Chevy S-10 Pickup 4.3L V-6) had been unable to start for a long time. Due to me fearing it was the fuel pump I didn't have the money/time to replace it. Anyways, I scraped some penny's together and got the fuel pump replaced.

Unfortunately I was informed (and now I know) that the gauges/dashboard lights are inop. The RPM is frozen at max rpm, even with the engine shutoff. The only gauges that work are the battery charge gauge and the oil pressure. Anyways the mechanic is wanting about $180 to fix it, but I'm wondering if there is an easy fix for it that I can do. He said he checked fuses, which i'll be double checking myself.

So what should I look for? Any ideas?

hmm, well, depending on how long the truck has been sitting, you may have other issues on startup,i wolud put some fuel in it,fill it 3/4 full, then add some techron fuel system cleaner ,to clean out the system/injectors once it starts up again, check to see that the battery has enough charge, take it to autozone, they'll do a free check on it,once the truck starts, replace the secondary fuel filter, otherwise you will probably end up fouling up your new fuel pump ,but yeah, check all the fuses first. just my .02

I have had a few issues since it's been "fixed" the dash for one. I've had two days where it didn't want to start, but today it started fine. Hopefully tommorow it's the same. I'll add the fuel cleaner in there. Probably will go get all the fluids flushed since it's been so long as well. I'll probably just suck up the $180 and reinstall the dash.
