Tearing my hairbag out!

Hi folks

So I bought the pictured kit. I have an airbag light on.

The kit does not detect any error codes, and sending the reset from the device does not clear the light.

I'm imagining it's the passenger seat issue, what do I need to do? :(

I got to MOT next week. Any help appreciated!

Thanks!

where you based?

you ideally need someone with a better scanner or INPA

I have both if you are local?

B800 was the first airbag tool I bought, worked as it should and have lent it out to a mate to clear codes on his Z3. I did however buy a Creator 310+ when I had a self inflicted airbag light on when I had a seat out fitting heat pads, switched ignition on to test the heated seat switches I installed whilst the seat was still out and disconnected, should have known better. INPA and BMW Scanner 1.4 failed to find the code or clear the light hence the Creator 310+ purchase. That found the fault code first go, it was the satellite module for the seat that was out. Creator cleared the code and it never returned. For a handheld scanner its a good option and reads all the modules. Although it has Transport Mode in its menu it is not functional, may become functional on a later update that can be downloaded and installed on the unit. It comes with the software to carry out updates on your laptop.

Faults found, one solved:

98F6 - this is the battery terminal explosive charge. It was reading too high resistance. Was not a loose connection so cut the brown wires leading to it and fitted a 3 ohm resistor (spec is apparently 2 ohms). Cleared and fault has gone away.

985F - this is apparently the left seat tensioner and is reading too lower resistance. From what I read a cleanup of the connection to the passenger side tensioner should see to it. Annoyingly this looks like a seat out job? Any advice appreciated!

Will crack on with that one next and hopefully see MOT land again!

I have some of those same air bag codes I'm trying to track down but if you are going to be pulling the seats out be sure to fit a piece of cardboard so it starts down by the seat track, goes over the door threshold and also covers the rocker panel, also it must cover the full length of the door opening. The seats are heavy, awkward to move and the seat tracks act like razors on the door seal and trim.

Thanks for the heads up! The video I watched a guy just managed to tip the seat up once unbolted, so will try that first 👍
