I've always wondered why the rear discs showed a ~12mm band of rust, as the pads looked right and sat wide enough, so thought just needed bedding in.
As branded pads are so cheap, just swapped them over and saw the old pads pitted with holes and angled at the top/bottom edges ( not just sides as expected ). So I wonder if these were just re-used pads convenient in workshop on last change ? Can brakes really hole up like that, are these signs of very cheap brakes from previous owner ? There is plenty of meat on them, so can't believe they are too old
Anyway new ones in and after a bit of a brake warm up, all the old band are gone and silver discs shining through as discs were only changes a few K ago. Brakes feel a bit more solid also with some missing surface area now engaged
