Tax disk on it's way out!

Completely agree - its the year 2012 not 212 this should have been out the window donkeys years ago, along with MOT certs, disabled badges, anything paper based at all!

so there not scrapping tax, just the tax disc, ah well thought it was too good to be true

We use little stickers that go on the corner of the number plate..... and plates go with the owner not the car. I can transfer my plate to any car I want to register. My plates are inexpensive, a standard price based on the type of vehicle, the plates in some places are very expensive, based on the value of the vehicle. Pretty much the same across North America.
My road tax comes out of the price of fuel., hence the inexpensive plates. My E89 would cost about $1000 for plates in Arizona, $80 here in Alberta.

I always hated the look of those windshield stickers.

Your road tax comes out of the price of fuel?

How much do you guys pay for a gallon?

Are you sure you want to know that?

We get it out of the ground here...

Premium is $1.25 or so a litre
Regular is just under a buck a litre.

It's more in BC, close to $1.50 a litre for premium

That's 78p a litre for premium and that includes your road tax?

We pay £1.30+ a litre and then pay £250 a year road tax

Even at our prices it's still 60% tax to the government. I think fuel is a wee bit lower in the States, (less tax).
