tattoos?

Nice piece on your foot whoever does your work is good at portraits nothing worse than seeing a bad portrait all out

I've got a large eagle the covers my neck, a religious compass centre chest , and a small piece behind my ear the really represents my mom, me , us as a unit.... id say that one has most significance and its the smallest like thumb sized.

Always wanted one but being a school teacher for 32 years I felt it inappropriate to get a tattoo. I felt I had to wait and on retirement folk were very surprised when I got a coupe of tattoos . . . .
Like sars commented, mine are on the insides of my legs just above the ankles so not on general show which is my preferred choice. Took me time to decide what to have but in the end went for a copy of RAF 616 squadron crest ('Yorkshire's own' and created in my home town of Doncaster) with the motto 'Nulla Rosa, Sine Spina' 'No Rose Without a Thorn' which I especially like. The white rose in the centre of the crest has 5 petals with the initial of each of my children (5 of them) on each petal. The other tattoo is a black 'S' (for Steph) with angel wings, a yellow halo above and a red devil tail at the end of the S. Appropriate after she kept me alive when I collapsed 10 years ago . . .
I loved coming up with the design and even now like to shock one or two who wouldn't expect me to have tattoos. As Billy Connolly once said - 'The difference between folk with tattoos and those without, is that those with tattoos, don't mind if you don't have any . . . '
Don't think I would have any more though and I told my kids that they too can have tattoos with my blessing, if they did what I did and waited until they were 55! (My youngest daughter has one already - ha!)

I dont have any tattoos, have thought about it a couple of times but came to the conclusion i would get fed up looking at it.

It used to be that somebody with a tattoo stood out and was individual and different, nowadays if you dont have one you are the one that stands out.
Like seeing different tattoos and some of the talent that these artists have is unbelievable but I hate seeing tattoos that cant be covered up like on the face, neck or hands.

Mate of mine is up to £3.5k getting his removed from his arms and neck, he was pretty wild as a youth but now in his 40's he hates them with a passion, he won't wear t shirts, just long sleeves and collars as you can still see the removal scarring and an ink tinge under the skin. However there is a difference, his we're just pissed random Blackpool front shop done crap plastered up and down limbs with no thought or skill, if he fancied an Indian Chiefs head at the time for eg, it'd go on anywhere, next to a crap looking dolphin or some other random whatever at the time. He would look even worse in his 60's etc hence the removing.
The ones on here seem to be thought out for a reason well done pieces, not just any old rubbish, and I doubt very much anyone will regret having them later in life, to me they seem very different to the ones people have just to try to look 'hard' or controversial. I would'nt have them myself but things like these I can appreciate for what they are.

None yet, but I'm only 57. Had ear pierced a few years ago at the behest of my daughter. She had a tat done, and said never again. She's got 8 now!

Don't like them, never ever fancied getting one whilst either drunk or sober - but each to their own
Some of the artwork is tremendous - but what happens when you age? Does it all go into a multi coloured blurr?
