Tappet noise

I got my Z4MC last September its 2 years old and had just under 7000 miles on the clock, it now has nearly 11000.
When I am accelerating lightly or crusing I get a tappet type noise from about 3000 to 3500rpm I dont here it during hard acceleration, but I tend not to be listning for it then just screaming and hanging on for grim death
I have taken it back to the dealer but they say they all do that.

Do they?.

I only use RON98 normally Shell Optimax

Sounds like normal Vanos noise, have a read of this one and the linked thread too

I was saying this to the Mrs today. When you are cruising along at about 3.5 to 3k it sounds pretty tappety but it goes away when you put your foot down(thats my excuse anyway )

Thanks wondermike feel happyer now. I will just hve to excelarate hard and cruse above 3.5k. Do the bots in blue and there cameras take that as a mitigating reason "sorry officer it makes a funny noise if I drive slower" ;-)

Yep, I can hear mine tapping away when I take my foot off the gas, was told it was a feature of this engine. As long as it quietens down on tick over. Anyway, it's a good reason to keep your foot down!
