Tank range

Had a longish drive from Somerset to Essex and back recently at a sensible 70/80mph which resulted in 430miles on a single fill up with 35miles remaining, must say I’m been impressed with the fun/cost ratio that the 20i provides :driving:

i need to ask.. how the hell did you keep it down to 70/80 ?
mind you, i have discovered there is something wrong with my pedal, it seems to be far too close to my right foot

A speed awareness course for being clocked at a blistering 79mph tends to concentrate my mind on the speed
(Especially after having that pesky 155mph limiter removed) :)

Actually, 330ish to a tank sounds pretty good considering the engine the 35is has got :?

Your mileage is obviously excellent and I think you're right that mine's not bad.

What surprises me more about mine, though, is the small difference between local & thrash it mileage and longer journeys. Probably 10%.

That's incredible for a 35is, mine barely saw over 200 to a tank
I know how to make mine sing between 4k & 7k revs and, unless I'm going shopping, always do, but I don't think it's ever been below 270.

200 sounds like a hole in the tank. :o

I have seen 430 on my regular runs optimum, I thought id nearly drained the tank dry ...

It normally comes in around 380 indicated with 30 to 50 on the range left.

Unmolested 28i so Well happy with that :driving:

You should be getting really good mpg then. Mine is far too close to he carpet. :driving:

I've never managed 400 miles in my Z4 - maybe I like the loud pedal too much!

It just seems a shame that when BMW were picking the components from their parts bin they used so many 3 Series bits for the Z4, but hobbled it with the 1 Series fuel tank size! :headbang:

You mean there are cars out there that will do more than 400 miles on a tank. :o Can't say I have ever owned one. :D :driving: I'm unlikley to make it 300 on a run in my little Mazda2. And well the Zed ERM less than that. :P

Definitely - my petrol 325s (so 63 litre tank) both did over 400 miles with ease.

My 123d (55 litre tank) managed over 500 miles on 1 tank, but my 320td (63 litre tank) regularly did over 600 miles on 1 tank.

When paying the highest price for petrol in the OECD, no matter how frugal and careful you are with fuel economy, it only means the difference between getting raped or gang raped at the pump... :headbang:
All I can say is I'm glad it's not a daily driver
