Tale of a new Z4MC owner

Hello everyone.

this is a little long but I hope the more "romantic" ones will appreciate the feeling:

I've been hovering the forum for the last couple 3 weeks and didn't dare post until I went through with it.

Since the coupé came out in 2006 I have been lusting after one (one of these "one day I'm going to have one of these moments when you'r 20+ and a petrolhead) and 3 weeks ago I realised that I did not want to wait until I was grey to own one.

Needless to say, plenty of reseach thanks to you all. Found the week prior to the agreed meeting unbearable and I am n ot even going to talk about the 15 mins of sweaty palms before seeing it. I ended up buying it from a specialist near Champagne (he is between 3 circuits). Broke the cardinal rule of not buying the first one I tried but in my defence, it felt and sounded perfect (time will tell).

Car is stock 72k km on the clock (thats about 45000 miles). Running service at 1700miles then Insp 1 and Insp 2. dark silver, pro GPS (2006 maps which are useless) with carbon leather interior (love it). When I first saw it, I honestly thought that my heart was goping to drop out my mouth.

To be honest I feel that I could not have bought it from nicer people. They pick uo their cars in Northen Italy mostly only from dealerships (interesting to learn that Northern Italians pamper premium car a lot more than the Germans apparently). Going rate in France is Currently €30k (and the french have them all in black with silver alum trim and red seats for some reason). Mine was €27.5. I got to sit with the guys pregnant wife and have coffee looking over 1 997GT3RS with the computer suitcase pligged in and an other BMW Qualified mechanic drilling in my plates. On the way back from the license office he picked me up in a 996 (wearing P Zeros) because I had never been in one. He gave it full boot! The guy who own the company and I tested the car with in an ex-race team engineer and ex-instructor.

Anyway for the fun bit:
I work in UK and live in France so took the Eurostar back on Friday to Eurodysney station. This fella picked me up in the car. Tested it for 1.5 hr on motorway; villages and B roads. did the paperwork had a coffee and then drove 750 km back to Bordeaux. A proper baptism all right! :driving:

When to have some seafood at the beach this morning and the girlfiend made it clear she would never get in it ever again (so that one's sorted then).

Anyway, here is to a dream come true. :D

Welcome, that car is achingly beautiful - you must be very pleased! Will you be attending Le Mans in June?

Thanks for the welcome.

I am cuffed to bits! I 've done a little bit of circuit and really wanted to press on improving my skills with out going the Caterham route. I had certain expectations but I must say I was surprised (pleasently so) that the MC is far harder hitting than an M3 (noisier too). Also the ride is sure choppy at low speed but it stays well faithfull and always with you. At speed, its more stable than my old 540.

Adam D. Le Mans, you bet! I can fit a tent and a couple of cases of wine in the boot :D
It 11th and 12th in my diary but I've never been. Do you actually need tickets?

Great post  and looking at your pics I get the coupe thing - one of the best looking coupes produced in the last decade?

Taz x: you have the 3.0L? Hows the suspension low speed in town and crappy roads?
The M is bleeming awful. I actually laughed my head off when my girlfriend said how uncomfortable it was and I saw her head bobbing up and down with every rutt. Its like driving a walnut
