taking z4 on tour?

I've got 2 weeks holidays end of September and normally do a motorcycle tour into Europe. ...however as I've just bought a z4 I've had this daft thought about having a blast to the alps in it for my holidays????

Anybody ever done this? And could offer any advice?.... the car should be reliable enough....however I worry about dashboard light gremlins appearing while away in it?

Cheers

Done it multiple times, would highly recommend it. Taken 2 zeds with one daughter in each. We've had them checked over before setting off and they've been fine while away. If the worst should happen there are plenty of BMW garages over there.

I'm sure there are quite a few members on here that could recommend routes, we liked heading to Baden Baden and driving the roads down from there, and the Furka pass in Switzerland was amazing

I took mine with 95500 mile on the clock and brought it back with 98800 and didn't have any trouble and it will be going again next year :D

I found this websites useful when planing

We done Furka & Stelvio

I've done this for many years now - don't worry about a thing, your not headed up the Limpopo - they have all the facilities you'll need in Europe !
Take a phrase book if your not a speaker of the language as some of the more rural areas don't speak much English.

Where are you setting off from?

When I go on bike i would set off to Newcastle from lanark. So gonna do that.
Sail on dfd's ferry to ijmuiden. And head for the b500 black forrest then into switzerland....bag a few passes before heading into France. ..
Or summit like that....I'm open to suggestions tho and any advice that people could through my way

I do that trip yearly - I will send you details that have served us well for many a trip !
We are getting older now and pay the extra few quid to go posh class plus - and it's worth every penny!

Hi bud,
Me an Billz have just come back from a 4200ml jaunt , france, , Switzerland, italy, and finally over to Briancon before we headed down to Javea spain, returning over the pyrenees, took in loads of passes this being our 5th trip, best advice I can give is make sure your tyres are ok, , especially the rear as the take a hammering on the moutain roads, when we set off I had a total tread deapth of 3.5 -4mm ended up on slicks which was not good on the last day blasting thro france in a thunderstorm, the zed was all over the place and couldnt go above 55mph, lol,, I should have known better,
Maurice
