Taking the.......

I was surprised that nobody had yet posted this http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-32605972

Honestly, I know the garage didn't advise a limit but I really think this lass is just taking the mick. The amount of alcohol ordered is a bit ott. They said they'd pay for a meal, not a piss up!

Lol, her and her mum, good effort!

Er yes excessive but I'm sure Audi make enough to cover the costs, tbf, they should have covered the whole thing as suggested and chalk it up to lesson learned...they could have spun it as positive PR

Very odd that they did not make any suggestions on the amounts. What exactly did they expect, £60, £100, £150?

Yes Audi should have advised how much but then it's not Audi paying for it, it's a dealership and yes I'm sure they 'possibly' could absorbe the cost but it's a matter of principle for them. Love the way the lass doesn't think it was excessive but I bet it's not her usual place to dine and most certainly not how much she would usually spend on a meal.

But yes lesson to be learned there, don't assume that people will just go for a nice meal somewhere for a couple of hundred quid tops. In fact she speant nearly double what I did for my 30th for me and Mike at the Kitchn restaurant.

The dealer is at fault for not setting a limit, however you have to wonder at the inteligence of a person that would think that the dealer would honor that kind of expenditure.

If it had been a brand new Lamborghini.........

When my Porsche dealer messed up my private plate transfer, I just managed to get a paint stick out of them. That was after handing 100k over, I think they might have paid for a McDonalds for two ....

i think they were very inteliginet taking advantage of a stupid dealer lol

Not very reasonable of them if you ask me. You would be hard pressed to buy a more expensive meal and in my opinion, makes them not very nice people. Its not big, its not clever and its not very funny. I feel for the dealership - where I hope she has been told not to come back.

I suppose it depends on how much you think your inconvenience was worth.

I had to cancel a week's driving holiday when BMW couldn't get my M5 back to me (with more than a week's notice) when their 'master technician' working on it went off sick. Their other master technician didn't have time in his schedule to fit mine in (despite it only being for a 30 minute timing chain tensioner replacement).

Lost out on hotels, ferry and holiday and had to hire a car for the week to get to work - and after all that they tried to present me with a £1500 bill for a damaged sump as they said that was contributing to the leak (it wasn't as there was no leak until the tensioner diaphragm blew).

After weeks of stalking their dealer principal (BMW GB were not interested) I got a face-to-face with the service manager who asked me what I'd be happy with, so I presented him with a list of the costs/losses I'd incurred. I pointed out that the £1k bill would be going to the small claims court if this meeting wasn't productive.

Got the £1k taken off the bill (which was better for them than a £1k cash settlement or a CCJ), so was ultimately happy at the outcome, but still peeved that it took so much effort on my part to rectify their errors.

If they'd refused the compensation and told me to book a meal on them, then I'd have been doing the full tasting menu at Le Manoir Aux Quat Saisons

There is being reasonable, and as angie says , there is taking the piss. The dealer didnt have to do anything but made a nice goodwill gesture in good faith. I am damn sure this person could have found a very nice meal for eighty or even a hundred quid, and the dealer would have been happy. In my opinion she is an example of the worst type of freeloading possible. If I was the dealer I would politely decline from ever dealing with her again, what business needs customers like that. absolutely disgusting.

Oh - and as far as the restaurant is concerned, a 13% tip which has been loaded over the alcohol which was already 10 times inflated????

I don't tip over the alcohol amount.

It's not just the alcohol - how do they justify £2.50 (£2.83 with service charge) for a splash of soda !!!! and people complain that BMW dealers overcharge....

Like most people... they're on the take. For everything their little selfish hearts desire. While a limit should have been set, you would also expect people not to take the piss. I think Audi paying even half is generous. These people should be ashamed of their grubby little greed.
