I took my car to a repair/collision center recommended be a few friends. I was looking for two estimates.
One was for me to remove and bring in my front bumper cover in and have them redo it so it looks like new.... That estimate is $358.00
I was ok with that.
The second estimate was for them to do the bumper and have the left front fender redone..... I did not notice the slight hazing of the clear coat when I bought the car, or the orange peel... and I am now sure the dickhead that had the car before me damaged it, and did a fly by night repair....
Every time I look at it now it just pisses me off that he could do that to this car.... a real Richard Cranium ......
The body guy looks real hard and tells me that yes, it was damaged and who ever repaired it was a moron.... They actually applied filler to attempt to smooth out the top of the fender.... resulting in the orange peel in that area.... He was actually pissed at this... comments like "This kind of crap gives us in the trade a bad name" "Cars like this one should NEVER be treated like this"
He says it will take at least two hours of work to get the fender 'right'. May be a little less.. The total estimate for both is $862.
I am ready to get this done.. Then I had a bright idea (oh crap, here it comes)...
Go buy a new fender, put it on myself then have them shoot the paint/clearcoat. I can get a new fender for $200 and I will NOT have bondo on it...
Not sure, but what ever I do, this car will be RIGHT before HC08...
