Taking apart sat nav display.

Hi, I have a new lcd for this. I have searched far and wide but I can't find instructions on how to actually open up the screen holder once the entire pop-up unit is free from the dash.

Does anyone have a link? I have looked at most of the videos I can find and they seem to skip that bit. Easy it's simple and I am being over cautious or it's not.

Cheers

This may help a bit as the photo bucket links no longer work but some of text may help
Module 3 is where you need to be

See Mojito's thread on replacing the Sat Nav display unit with a Garmin GPC while retaining pup-up functionality ( https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=142096 ).

It's not quite a step-by-step disassembly, but it's close. I took photos of my Sat Nav as I took it apart to replace it with a Garmin GPS unit similar to Mojito's, but his photos are generally better. The blue clip that holds the hollow pivot (bushing) in place is tricky to pop off, and I didn't get mine removed until I had the entire clam shell apart. The plastic will be brittle, so go really slow. My unit had obvously been apart before, and it had a few scars, but it went back together very solidly.

As you take out the screws for the motor, take photos and set them aside; same thing for the PCB behind the screen. Do this again for the screws for the green clips holding the screen in place. The screen ribbon cable will be a little tricky, but less so than the case take-apart.

Best of luck !
