Hello! Came to the forum for information to further search the BMW Z4. Immediately questions: tell me which car to give a choice, restyling from 2006 or all the same buy until 2006. I’m thinking about dorestyling with the M54B30 engine.
Which is better to buy?

PS I am from Russia, so I can write clumsily and I use a translator)) In Russia, Z4 is not enough, so I think something to learn useful here.
 
Tell me, there are a lot of Z4 options in Russia without the multi-function and gearshift paddles on the steering wheel. It’s difficult to establish for yourself and what is being warmed up? Maybe there is an instruction?

Are you asking if you can get a Z4 then fit multi-function steering wheel and paddle gear change? - please don't be upset at me for restating the question - your English is far better than my Russian :thumbsup:
 
These cars are very easy to upgrade and many parts available for sale here or online
 
Google these engines. Wikipedia has great information on both the the cars and the motors. Car information includes model changes including style and functional improvements. Motor information includes displacement, power, speed and notable differences like turbo or natural aspiration (NA).
Different motors excelled in different areas. Different models E85,86,89 offered different design and features. It is ultimately easier to purchase the car the way you like. Just Google BMW Z Wikipedia and you will be on your way to knowing all the model changes. Good Luck
 
I was also considering a Mercedes SLK R170 230k (1997-2001) only this model, I don’t like the fresh ones ...

So I choose between Z4 and SLK R170 - help decide?

The R170 230 SLK is terrible to drive and sounds awful. The roof hydraulic are unreliable and the wiring loom is biodegradable so breaks down causing strange faults. Avoid the SLK or you’ll be fixing annoying problems all the time.

The Z4 is much more reliable, more fun to drive and sounds brilliant with a straight six engine. There are a few known problems but advice from here will help you to look out for them.
 
Welcome to the forum, that's as long as you make the right choice... Z4. If you buy a Merc, you won't have the benefit of using this fine forum my friend :)

I completely agree.
SLK R170 with a hard roof, I do not see any drawbacks in a hard roof. I think it can be left overnight in the yard. Only put Z4 in the garage, I'm afraid of spoiling the soft roof awning.
